Seela 1,187 Posted January 17, 2014 I've lost 53 lbs but still have about 57 to go. Now that I am an "average size woman" at a size 14 people are saying it's so great that I'm so skinny now and I shouldn't lose any more weight. I'm sorry but that is just so weird! Yes, I know that (compared to before wls) I look great and I know I look "normal" now, but since when is a size 14 skinny? When someone asks how much more I want to lose (I am very open) and I tell them they are shocked. Total disbelief! I have a picture of myself from when I was 140 lbs... size 7 and I'll show it to them. They're like, oh! Then, they'll say something like I really don't think that's necessary. Really??? Whatever, just think it's strange that today's society thinks size 14 is good enough. Maybe I'm just getting old but when I was younger size 14 was still considered fat. Although I feel healthier I still feel like I have a long way to go and the real work is just now starting since my weight loss is starting to slow down. 1 dreamscometrue reacted to this

Branmuffin 190 Posted January 17, 2014 So funny! Two of my co-workers told me this week that if I lose much more I will "blow away"! I responded that I have 50 more to go and that I still weighed 193 and their mouths gape as if I'm lying! It's funny how different people react. I just try to be positive and act appreciative. 1 Seela reacted to this

musiclover 61 Posted January 17, 2014 This makes me cross, since when did it become socially acceptable to ask people thy barely know what they weigh and what they want to weigh!? That's between you and your doctor. I personally wouldn't dignify them with a response nosy blighters!! 1 Lorie269 reacted to this

However it is surprising just how forward some people can be. I'm starting to get to a point where instead of a number I'm just gonna say' alot' and leave it at that. snochick2005 172 Posted January 18, 2014 I can totally relate. I was not open about wls at work. I'm currently wearing a tight 14. One woman at work is very concerned about me losing more weight. She thinks that couldn't possibly lose anymore. I take it as being sweet. She's an older, grandmother type woman and she's just concerned I'm losing too much too fast... Every time it get sick (I work in a Petri dish, aka school) she asks if I'm eating enough and getting all the Vitamins I need.
