4 weeks out & I've hit the dreaded stalls!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on Dec 16, & have hit 2 stalls. The first one was between week 1 & 2, then I lost about 5 pounds by 2 1/2 wks. Now I'm at 4 1/2 wks & haven't dropped anything.bive gone down 2 jean sizes but can't get the scale to move. I'm staying on plan, getting my liquids in & close on the Protein. I'm feeling a little defeated because the scale won't move & I don't know why. I'm not getting all the exercise I should because we have about 4 ft of snow but do get on the tread climber for short periods. HELP!!!!!

It will get better. Remember the stalls have to come due to the fact your body is going thru changes. Hang in there its gets better.

Stalls are evil! My last one started the day after Christmas and just ended late last week. I complained about it... a lot. They are just so so frustrating!

But, all the while, I would work to remind myself that our bodies are designed to take on and hold onto weight just planning go a famine. Then, when the famine arrives, to expend that energy slowly just in case we need it later. What I just did to my body with the surgery easily put it into 'famine mode.' While I might be frustrated during a stall, I also try to remember that my body is just trying to save my life.

Soon enough, it will realize that I really am still eating and it can let go of a little more weight. Then, it will probably freak out again because we're still losing the famine safety net that its been building all these years. If you read accounts of the longer term vets, many say that the weight loss isn't in a straight line, but rather steps down as their body adjusts.

Basically, I understand your frustration and will probably be complaining myself again here too. But don't let it make you feel defeated! This is what your body was made to do! You'll get through it!

I keep busy, quit weighing for 2-3 weeks, and yeaaaa, the scale moves! Good luck!

I am sure if I weighed everyday during the last 2 weeks, I would have cried and felt major frustration! But waiting 2 weeks showed me a 3 pound weight loss, and I am happy with that. Weighing no more than once a week, or once every other week is going to be my saving grace, i think.

I am only 10 days out and I think if you focus on doing other things you will not think about weighing yourself so much, I know I have put in the time yet like some of you guys but, I have so much energy. That I don't even thing about weighing myself, and the same week of my surgery I was out at a post op&pre op meeting explaining how good I feel, and a lot of post op people was like WoW! So I only weight myself 1time so far

I had my sleeve on December 17, 2013. I went through a stall at week three too. I got frustrated and took the advice of the people on this website and stopped weighing myself daily because, I was getting frustrated. I haven't weighed myself in a week or so but I did wear some pants I haven't worn in five years. Gooooo. ME! Keep eating.....and drinking.....and walking.... We will get there. Slowly but surely.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
