Well I'm almost 11 mos post and was wanting to know is it normal to be hungry more often? Some days I may only eat twice which I know it should be more but other days I feel constantly hungry like I haven't put anything in my body. Is this the norm for some? Hopefully someone could give me some insight

Hi there beautifulme,

I'm 15 months out and yes the feeling of hunger has increased from what is say was almost non existent to pretty much a normal feeling. Like you some days are different and I guess our bodies change like the weather! I has my twelve month post op meeting with the surgeon, nutritionist and psych who all told me that the sleeve has done the job it was intended for and now my body is going to make further adjustments and catch up on the loss over the last twelve months.

They told me to stick to my small portions even if I feel I can eat more and to not 'graze' through the day on junk foods that are easy to eat - but they also reminded me that we're all human and everything is okay to try in moderation as long as we don't go crazy!

I find that sometimes my body is trying to tell me something, for example I think I'm hungry but I'm actually really thirsty and a drink fixes up that feeling. Keeping fluids up helps to not graze and I've been drinking a lot of tea lately which has been great. Also get your blood tests done to make sure you're not lacking in any Vitamins or anything, it's been a crazy year for your body so it's probably going to have some strange ways of telling you it needs something!

Hope this all helps :-)

Yes, it is very natural to regain hunger; although, some are lucky enough to say they have little! :(

As for me, at 3+ years out, yes I get hungrier on some days than others BUT the beautiful thing is IFI eat correctly, it's still small amounts and I still have great restriction.

As long as you don't add a bunch of "slider" foods, you will be good! Also, if you have excess stomach acid you will THINK you are hungry a LOT! Have you tried taking an anti-acid reducer like Prilosec. I do, not always, but some, and find that it is true!

I think that's why we feel hungrier on SOME days and not others.

Also, if you are eating too many carbs, you will truly be hungrier.

Thanks so much Bella! I will take these things into consideration. I do struggle with my Fluid intake so maybe if I try drinking more it will help with my hunger. I think a blood test is a good idea as well because I find myself not having as much energy lately. You made a lot of good points things that I haven't thought about!

I started out taking antacids at the beginning but haven't taking any in a while I will try that again. Now, that I think about it the feeling can be easily mistaking for hungry because there is no way that I am this hungry this often also I know that I need to increase my Fluid intake like more Water. Thanks for sharing your experience with me it was very helpful

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
