Cant eat and not gettin enough protein..

Recommended Posts

So i was sleeved on December 11th, 2013 and I'm 5 weeks out now and on my soft food stage, but these past few days I haven't been able to eat anything! My taste buds and stomach want nothing to do with food, everything I eat makes me nauseous and gag also every Protein Drink I try does the same thing! Luckily since I got my surgery I have had no problems with drinking liquids (beside the Protein drinks) I can drink pretty fast too, and I have been taking my Vitamins. I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow but I'm wondering if anyone else has gone through this as well?

After the 1st week post-op, I never had any nausea or problems keeping food down. That 1st week, everything made me sick and I was only tolerating a teaspoon or 2 of food every few hours.

My 1st 6 months, I was very limited on the foods I could eat. I couldn't tolerate much of anything other than re-fried Beans and cream of mushroom Soup for that time.

I see this topic posted a lot, so it must be pretty common and eventually lessens and goes away. Stay focused on getting your liquids in.

Around 4-5 weeks, I was just like you..I at a few bites of mashed potatoes, a bite of tuna salad or egg salad..that was it...no Protein shakes..uck..but now a 8 weeks, I don't have a problem with anything, I even like shakes again...Its weird how your stomach can effect everything...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
