HealthyNewMe 1,935 Posted January 16, 2014 I know exercise routines and gym time needs to fit around busy schedules (work, school, kids, Saints football games), but I was curious as to when most people exercise and why at that time? Would it be different if you didn't have the above mentioned factors? ..... Let's say like "RETIRED FOLKS." I work in the afternoon..... And add to that I'm NOT a "morning person," so my favorite time to exercise is MID-MORNING! Once I get that workout done, I'm so motivated to let my band help me keep my food in check for the rest if the day......Just curious!!!!!! 1 CBT reacted to this
CBT 450 Posted January 16, 2014 I know exercise routines and gym time needs to fit around busy schedules (work, school, kids, Saints football games), but I was curious as to when most people exercise and why at that time? Would it be different if you didn't have the above mentioned factors? ..... Let's say like "RETIRED FOLKS." I work in the afternoon..... And add to that I'm NOT a "morning person," so my favorite time to exercise is MID-MORNING! Once I get that workout done, I'm so motivated to let my band help me keep my food in check for the rest if the day......Just curious!!!!!! It really depends on what I'm doing and what my goals are. Usually I go to dance/martial arts in the morning, hot yoga at night, weight train whenever I can on the days I have set aside. I prefer to train hard in the morning/mid-morning. That's when I have the most control over my day and my commitment. Sometimes I go to the club in the middle of the day because there's a great Pilates/yoga class and it works on my schedule. I have a ready gym bag in my car I think it's important to say that I have always been active. I like to "exercise". It's fundamental to my mind and body. I think what I've learned is that when I really LOVE what I'm doing, I put my wellness first and make it fit. I would totally NOT do this to walk on a treadmill. Lol. Sorry. It's not such a straight forward answer.
Dee_1111 317 Posted January 16, 2014 On my days off I'm not a morning person, so after my (pot of) coffee and Breakfast, few chores around the house, I finally make it to my gym. It has always take me a few hours to wake up in the mornings, so AM workouts are out of the question. Im an afternoon workout gal. 2p -4p I'm a swearin' and sweatin' : And my body thanx me for not kickin' its a$$ at 6am..lol 1 CBT reacted to this

Rojasanoll 920 Posted January 16, 2014 I usually exercise on the weekends only, but usually long day walks where I jog, slow down walk, then jog again in spurts. Some nights I use my stretch bands for muscle toning exercises while watching tv, but not often. I just wish I was an exercise person but I've never been. I have to offset with the foods I eat. I do know that exercise is the key to making the band really efficient in weight loss and in control. Best wishes and Keep the Faith. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
Bandista 7,466 Posted January 16, 2014 Mornings -- otherwise it doesn't seem to happen. Life has a way of getting in the way, or I get in my own way! I hang out my exercise clothes the night before and have a jar of tea by the bed. Alarm goes off, I sit up and sip the tea, don my togs and then go downstairs. I have a cousin who joins me and that helps a lot -- accountability to another person. We have a treadmill and recumbent bike in the basement along with a Bowflex. It's not glamorous but it definitely works. We live in a rural area so going to a gym would mean time driving, etc., but when spring arrives I may try to fold in an evening class or two each week. Good luck to you -- sounds like you're doing beautifully! Isn't it wonderful thinking about exercise the way we used to think about food? 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
B-52 7,113 Posted January 16, 2014 My Health Club opens at 5 am M-F, 6am on weekends...I am there at 5:30am, ready to go...except on Mondays when I am in a "Advanced Training" class..(*Bootcamp") on Mondays that starts at 5:30am...it's always crowded...men and women. I'm a morning person anyway...I like to workout before I have eaten anything, and when my energy levels are at the highest...when I go after work, I am somewhat tired, and don't get as good a workout in...although I have gone twice a day...morning and after work on occasion. The health club I belong to has lockers...so I change into my workout clothes after I get there, bed head and all.....afterwards, I sit in the sauna/steam room, can shave, shower, brush my teeth, put on fresh clothes and head to work... I can also purchase one of the many different freshly made smoothie for breakfast there....or a fresh veggie juice...but I go Protein. The place is more crowded than one would think at that hour...same faces every day so I get to know many... Most people are professionals, Dr.'s, Lawyers, one or two judges I'm aware of, and even one State Senator...and they leave the gym wearing suits and ties for work...and the women I've seen leaving are dressed very professional also. You have our group at 5-6am....at 8 am the "Seniors" start showing up.....during the day it is all women...Homemakers I imagine., they use the daycare.......then you have the after work crowd, starting at 3pm......in the evening, after 6pm, you have all the Rif-Raf...the "Lounge Lizards". pinksjo1 137 Posted May 15, 2014 During the work week, I eat lunch at my desk and take that hour to either walk outside - weather permitting - or walk on the treadmill or ride the bike in our building gym. On weekends, I either walk in the mall or on Grant's Trail. 1 aroundhky reacted to this
wendyt 108 Posted May 15, 2014 I try to walk every morning before work for about 15-20 minutes. Weekends I walk in the afternoon. I want to start some strength training, but just don't know where to fit it in. Possibly in the evening after supper. A gym is out of the question...can't afford it. Fiddleman 4,376 Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) Typically during the week I work out at 4 pm because it is a good time to break from work (16 hour days as a software developer) and aligns fairly well with daily eating patterns. I start work at 5:30 am so do not have any time before work. On weekends and when on vacation (now), I like to work out at 9 am to align with 2 hours after eating and also " to take care of it" as I have a habit of talking myself out of it if in the afternoon or evening (only applies on non working days). Average workout session is about an hour, but sometimes 30 m and sometimes 90 min depending on what I am doing. For example, cross fit type workouts are mega intense and only require 20-30 minutes where a p90x weight workout requires on average 60 minutes where a good yoga session is 90 minutes. Variety is key not only for your own interest, but also to avoid plateaus. Edited May 15, 2014 by Fiddleman
erp 2,016 Posted May 15, 2014 I like mornings best but need structure like a scheduled class or someone waiting for me otherwise I wait until after work and at that point I don't workout as hard if at all.
music1618 879 Posted May 15, 2014 I found that I do better in the am. I seemed to be able "talk" myself out of going all day long. If I just got up and did it I always felt better
