I have done everything I was told, all the test, appointments, paperwork but it seems like I have to push to get information. I was told all paperwork was faxed and to call another number Monday. Called and was told someone else in the office would call me later (I assumed later in the day). No call, no call today so I called and was told that she didn't have me in the computer and would call me later. No call !!!!!! All I need is this meeting and the surgery date can be set.

I know I am an emotional eater and this makes it so much worse. I feel like I'm being tested. This has been going on since July and I can't plan anything, vacation, I need my shoulder operated, no fund raising for my Avon Walk. I need to be able to walk 26 miles in 2 days the first weekend in May. I goes I'm just running out of patience and know I have to hang on a little long. I did 1 week of the pre-op diet, had to stop because everything is going so slow, so I will have to do that all over again. Makes me want a double double hamburger with fries!

My advice to u is to drive over to the surgeons an d not leave until u have the answers/dates you need. This would tick me off not getting answers! I sympathize with u completely!!!

I would be persistant as hell !!! The squeaky wheel gets oiled. I was lucky where my surgeons office had coordinators that handled all your questions, submissions, insurance etc etc. Anytime I called I either got an answer right away or someone got back to me within a couple of hours. It would make me a bit nervous if my surgeons office did not respond to my requests, I would probably go some place else. I need a surgeon that is TOTALLY in tune with their patients !!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
