Today was my first post- up from surgery 12 days ago. I still can not walk or stand for long. No pain just winded every time I try walk, I can't even stand to take a shower or even brush my teeth. The Doctor sent me straight to the ER. I had a Cat Scan and X-ray. All good. No blood clots.

All good, but why am I soooo out of breath? They gave no answers. I have a follow up appointment with my Dr. at end of week. Anyone have this happen to them?

If not meds maybe you need food? What is your diet right now? I know some docs want their patients only on liquids. Mine allowed full liquids for two weeks, which allowed me to eat creamy Soups, yogurt, pudding, soft cheeses, mellow, and Protein Shakes. I progressed to soft foods after two weeks. Then I could have scrambled eggs, hummus, refried Beans, thicker soups, and pureed foods of a more substantial variety. I felt stronger with something more like real food in my pouch.

It is a proven fact, that any narcotics will labor ur breathing! Are you on pain meds? Try not taking th til u get up and motivated, walk a lil and then take em. See if that helps til you can get into the dr! Hope that was useful info!! :) keep us posted on how ur doing and what the doc says!!

Before my hysterectomy I was extremely short of breath because I was extremely anemic. I also craved ice which I found out was also a sign of anemia. I hope you feel better soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
