Neggie 4 Posted February 5, 2014 My surgery is scheduled for Feb 24th. I have to do a two week liquid diet prior to surgery. I am hoping that this won't be as difficult as it sounds. But one day at a time!

Paigepatches 17 Posted February 5, 2014 Hi all. Secret Bander, congrats and keep being good to yourself! Neggie, I am on day 7 of liquid and veggie diet and I can tell you I'm getting used to it! Days 4 and 5 were a b@$&? Because I was just feeling sorry for myself and getting all emotional about having the surgery. But as I've watched the scale go down (10pounds so far), I've been thinking, wow, I can actually do this... And maybe I really can lose weight with the band!! I think it's been hard to believe I can succeed at this losing weight thing. So, if you have bad days, come here... We'll listen and get you thru it!! 1 starfish n coffee reacted to this

And congrats on the 10 pounds!! This will all be worth it! If losing weight was easy we would all weigh our ideal weight without the surgery!! But we are strong and can do what we need to do to achieve our goals!! It is awesome knowing that I do have a place I can come to for support from people going through the same journey! Keep up the good work, you are already on day 7 whoo hoo!
fatty2hottie 57 Posted February 6, 2014 I started the liquid pre-op diet yesterday. Every food commercial is driving me insane. I meet with my surgeon tomorrow morning to go through the procedure and then I have my PASS appt in the afternoon. I learn what my surgery date will be. I want to have the surgery ASAP because I have been thinking about it for years and have been waiting a month for this appt. I have done lots of thinking and reflecting and know this is my path. I am supposed to do the liquid diet for 10 full days before surgery, but I started earlier just in case he can do my surgery next week. Plus my BMI is higher than the max they allow for the surgery, so I need to lose 10 pounds to meet the qualifications. 2 starfish n coffee and tdeizme reacted to this
SecretBander 79 Posted February 6, 2014 I am now 36 hrs post surgery. Not hungry at all, drinking fluids just to stay hydrated. But in the hospital room post op the food commercials were making me crazy. And walking through the Walgreens to the pharmacy to pick up my pain meds It was hard to walk past the cookie aisle. Those Oreos were calling to me. Just head hunger and knowing I will be on liquids only for the next 3 weeks making me crazy I think. But now I have no appetite. I don't.care about food I just want to heal and for the swelling to go down. 1 MestizaBander reacted to this

SecretBander 79 Posted February 6, 2014 No you are not able to leave the hospital alone, I had a cab pick me up. I had surgery around 9am and stayed at the hospital till 5ish. I don't think I would of been ready to leave 2-3 hours later. We made a quick stop at walgreens to pick up meds then he dropped me off at the hotel. My car is still at the hospital, I will take a cab to go pick it up later today or tomorrow.
SecretBander 79 Posted February 6, 2014 I am young (30) and strong, no comorbidities and my BMI is 41 so I feel like this helped me be able to do it alone. The nurses were shocked at how well I bounced back, I asked to do a lap of the hospital floor a few hours post op thanks to Bandista's advice - waking really helps. The hospital staff is so used to really sick patients they do not push or expect someone to be up and waking a few hours later. But if you feel up to it - make your wants known and they will help you 2 Neggie and SweetGeorgiaT reacted to this
