jlmckee 28 Posted January 14, 2014 Hi. First day to the site. I like the Operation Operation post. My surgery is scheduled for 1/27/14. Pre-op appt 1/21/14. I'm nervous. I'm not receiving as much support as I did initially. I've lost 86 lbs since I started this process in March 2013. Now friends/co-workers, family are saying that I've done this well in my own I should just stick to it. Ugh, it's not like I hadn't in the past. I know that I still need this tool to get myself where I need to be physical and mental health wise. I've visited a few sites, hadn't seen any that I wanted to participate in. I read a couple threads on this site and thought I'd give it a go. My counselor and nutritionist say I need to find a support group. I'm not a fan of in person, so again, thought I'd give this a try. I'm feeling selfish, wanting to do this now. I'll be 39 in February. I don't want to hit 40 in the same shape I'm in. On the flip side, I'm frustrated with myself for waiting as ling as I did. Having a hard time focusing on I've lost 80+ lbs, just that I have so much further to go. Don't worry, I've started counseling. Trying to sort out my issues to find a place to start. Any advice, suggestions will be appreciated. Sorry for rambling...
SnowDaisy 73 Posted January 14, 2014 Hi Well I guess we've all lost tons of weight only to put it all back plus some, so it's understandable that what comes with that is fear (or terror) of gaining it all back plus some. Most people are very well intentioned when they voice their concerns regarding weight loss surgery and quite often it might feel that they aren't supporting your decision now, but will support you post op. I am getting my date today, but I believe that it's going to be I two weeks also. We can watch each other's progress. All the very best X
DLCoggin 1,788 Posted January 14, 2014 Welcome, welcome jlmckee! I suppose it goes without saying but I'll say it anyway - you're in the right place! There are tons of very supportive and very knowledgeable folks here. In-person support groups are powerful tools for some. Others find the on-line option equally powerful, available 24/7 and infinitely more convenient. If you've got a question, someone here will have an answer! Less than two weeks to the beginning of a new life. You're gonna love the new you!!

shirlann46 37 Posted January 15, 2014 Congratulations on your super pre surgery weight loss and your upcoming surgery. I had my surgery October 16th and my only regret is I didn't have it years earlier. You will do great. The first few days after surgery are pretty rough, but after that it was smooth sailing for me. I am 3 months out, have lost 50 lbs and I feel great! I have more energy than I've had in years! Good luck to you, and let us know your progress. 1 DLCoggin reacted to this
animated_angel 19 Posted January 15, 2014 Welcome! I agree you are at the right place. I wanted to share advise from my Dr and his team pre surgery. The weight you lose during the preparation phase of this surgery is every bit as important and in most cases more important than the post op battle. You have already made some very important lifestyle changes and this surgery doesn't have guarantees that anyone will lose ALL of their weight post op......it's a tool that we work with. Your friends and family mean well but they haven't fought your same battle. I didn't have my surgery until recently, I am 58 and the older I got the more difficult the weight battle became. I bet you won't regret your decision - I am only a week post op and I am so excited to be on this journey! 2 SnowDaisy and DLCoggin reacted to this
