I agree with Seela though, the RTD (ready to drink) Preimer Protein shakes (I've only tried chocolate) are by far my favorite.

Isolyze tastes pretty good. I've tried the chocolate Milk and Choclate Peanut Butter. http://www.speciesnutrition.com/index.php/store#!/~/product/id=20099369

I'd like to know if anyone has tried these: http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2612796 Natures Best Isopure Zero Carb - they look like Gatoraide not like a shake.

The Isopure was recommended to me to get Protein during clear liquid phases. I have been pretty fortunate to like and tolerate a lot but this was the one thing I just couldn't drink. I tried 4 different flavors and the thickness of it just made me queasy? Not sure the exact reason but couldn't live with that one

Body Fortress is definitely on the cheap side ($16 for a 2 lb tub) and it has 30 grams per scoop. You can buy it online or at Walmart. I haven't tried it but I know lots of people love it.

The problem is that it also has 170 calories per scoop and 7 carbs. I think that's the tradeoff you are going to get with most Protein powders - if you want higher protein, you are going to get higher calories and carbs. So it really depends on what is most important to you.

Target sells the Pure Protein brand, which is 25 grams of protein per scoop, but lower calories & carbs at 140 and 3 respectively. It is a little more expensive at $19 per 2 lb tub but that's still a lot cheaper than many other protein powders. It also has lots of fans but again I haven't tried it myself.

I am a big fan or Premier ready to drink. They have 30 grams of Protein and are so convenient. You can add Torani sugar free syrups to the chocolate or vanilla shake to vary the taste.

Another Premier Fan, I've tried Syntrax and Unjury mixes but I prefer the RTD Premier, no weird taste or texture and feels good on my sleeve if that makes sense...like it coats it lol!!! Isopure & I have a love & hate relationship....if I could just get passed that sour maple Syrup aftertaste, I'd love it, I mean 40 grams of Protein and we cons count towards our Water on my program....but alas I still va or the Premier!

On my pre-op diet I am using Premier Protein (chocolate and Vanilla) 30g proteien

In the mornings I use Syntrax nectar (Chocolate Truffle and Cookies and Cream) 23 g Protein

I buy both through Amazon. Both taste good to me. However I will say that the Syntrax Nectar does take a good shake to get it to dissolve so sometimes if I am in a hurry I am eating chunks of protein. :)

Can not stand the after taste of Isopure.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
