Last appointment, before surgery.

Recommended Posts

Met with Dr Michelson today for my last appointment before my surgery on Monday 20th, found out that on Sunday I can't eat anything all day, I've been on the 10 day liquid diet since Friday, which so far, so good hasn't been to bad, its been 3 Protein shakes plus a 370 calorie meal, but on Sunday I can't even have that.

Anyone have any tips on how to get through the day without sneaking food.

I've been on my liquid diet since sunday 1/12/14 and I have to say it is very very hard not to sneak food. I want to eat something so bad. I am tired of having the Protein shakes for Breakfast lunch and dinner. Tomorrow 1/15 is my surgery and I cannot have anything to eat or drink after midnight. So all day long I have been drinking Water and my shakes and so tired of them. I want to chew some food!!! Good luck! You are right around the corner! See you on the losers bench!

Sure, I had the same thing. I got up at 5 am and had a scrambled egg and tomatoe sandwich. . Then coffee, later broth, coffee, popsicle, small potato at 3 or I knew I would scarf if I haven't put something in there. Then at 8pm I drank half a bottle of citrus nitrate to give me a movement early morning, worked good for me

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
