6 weeks out - Crunchy foods?

Recommended Posts

I love Rice Crisps Sweet Chili and these crunchy vegetable sticks that taste like potato chips but they're made from spinach, Tomato, and potato. I would like to try some new crunchy Snacks, what do you like?

I love kale chips! In my grocery store you can find them in the produce aisle. They come in different flavors but I like the parmesan ones the best. There are a ton of kale chip recipes on line if you want to make them yourself.

Almost 8 weeks out and I am not ready to try anything crunchy. Honestly, I would rather not risk being adventurous and the repercussions. My one treat is 2-4 pieces of dry roasted edamame (the size of a pea), and I usually grab them and keep on going as I chew them to death. Very tasty and curb my craving for salty snack.

I think I might be over cautious, but one choking episode on small bite of chicken (ate too fast/didn't chew so well) that caused me to feel like I was having a serious heart attack has made me this way.

I am a little afraid that when I buy the chip style treats that I will go back to eating too much. Sticking to popsicles!

Hope everyone is having a sunshiny Monday!

be very careful when you stray into that section...it might even be too soon for you... check with your dr on some crunchy alternatives... some of those vegetable chips, etc., have hidden junk in them...read your labels, but you'd be better off making something yourself...check online bariatric recipes for help

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
