I'm planning on arriving the day before, just in case there are flight delays. Don't want it to impact surgery scheduling.

I'm going the night before. . I want to check out the area a little bit and not have to stress about making it there in time for surgery. I also wanted to hit up Walmart for some Vitamin waters and maybe the GNC for some Isopure. I was going to bring some unflavored Protein Powder with me and try and add it in where I can. I know surgery makes you tired anyways but I only have a week before I'm watching my kids and neice and nephew full time again so I'm going to try and get as much Protein and rest in as I can! I can't believe it's almost just a month away, eep!

I know they said you can buy them on Amazon or at walgreens, but I haven't checked in store yet.

Spirometers on Amazon are about $10.00, that is where I got mine. I could not find one locally, not at Walgreens and not at a medical supply store. OCC will sell you one as well.

My husband and I went on Sunday, the day before surgery. It was nice because he could eat a leisurely meal for dinner (hint: avoid the buffet. He said the food was mediocre at best and expensive. He said the food was better ordering off the menu). After dinner we walked up to the Casino for a bit. Be careful walking because there are no crosswalks and people drive crazy! We walked back in the dark and did not feel unsafe, and saw women standing at bus stops, so we didn't think the area was unsafe.

One thing I wish I would have packed was a thermomenter. I was at OCC for 2 nights because I had 2 procedures, one on Monday and one on Tuesday. I felt really warm a few times, they took my temp under my armpit and I didn't feel like that was very reliable? So I wish I had packed my own thermometer!

You will love the OCC! I had a great experience and received excellent care. 6 weeks out today and 42 lbs down including pre-op!

I am totally excited!! I will definitely buy the spirometer on Amazon and as for what my dr. Said was to do a minimum of 2 wks before surgery to exercise my lungs.. OCC is so helpful and supportive they even sent me an email with instructions on how they wanted me to use the spirometer and what kind TO actually buy because there are so many to choose from. Every email and contact information is straight to the point, I can understand exactly everything that they want me to do and when I needed help Lori my coordinator was there right when I needed her!!! I can't wait!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
