Lots of guys! You'll find lots as you navigate your way around.

My date is about a month after yours and I'm already an emotional wreck. Lol. I hear it's normal.

I'm here. Had my procedure 08/29/13. Looks like you're only a few day out from your date. Being nervous is natural for something life changing as we all have gone through or will be going through soon here. I actually had no issues with pain after my procedure and have had an easy time with adapting to my new lifestyle. My support system has been fantastic and the fact that I can come here anytime also when I may have a question or concern is great. Congratulations on your upcoming procedure. As I've seen others post here, we'll see you soon on the loser's bench with the rest of us.

This forum's founder is a man...and, most importantly to me...I am a man. :D

Granted, there are many women here. They are, for the most part, easy to get along with.

It is natural to be nervous, you would have to have delusions of grandeaur not to be. You can do this.

I was 340 to start, 210 now. It's a life changing release!

Plenty of guys on here, as mentioned previously, there's a forum specifically for men....not nearly as lively as the Ladies Room though! LOL

Being nervous is normal, no worries though, it'll be over before you know it. I was sore for a few days, but off pain meds the third day and back to work within a week. Seems like a lifetime ago...I'm 8 months out and hit my goal two weeks ago (101 lbs. of fat gone forever my friend!).

Good luck and get ready, you're in for an awesome ride!

Thanks so much for the responses and the encouraging words! I'm on day 10 of my 14 day pre op diet and I had decide I was going to have a salad with chicken in it (I did that once before a few days ago)... I am losing weight though. But coming here reading actually encouraged me not to have the salad :) -body :( - mind. lol.. glad to know there's plenty of guys doing it too.. as a guy i was about to worry that maybe it's not good for me .. but then again I'm worrying about EVERYTHING related to this right now lol.. my biggest worry - "I hope I don't have a leaky staple line... I didn't have much gray hair prior, but I'm sure I'm growing some now ha ha ha

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
