Worried and scared, feeling alone

Recommended Posts

Wow thank you all for such supportive words! I really appreciate it. I have done a bit of research about doctors here in San Francisco and this one particular doctor comes highly recommended. I am thinking I will meet with one more for another opinion. I looked up LessofSarah on YouTube and her videos were helpful and inspiring. It's incredible to see how much weight people can lose with VSG, so long as it is paired with proper diet and exercise. Do any of you find it really difficult to keep up the strict diet plans? As for exercise, I imagine it gets easier as you lose more weight. Thanks again for your encouragement, means a lot.

I see some of Dr. Criangles patients on another forum, obesity help. Frisco weighed over 400 lbs and has done very well with the sleeve. I'm in the South Bay and had mine through Kaiser with Dr. Hahn.

Yasmine, My husband and I do not have trouble with the diet plan at all. Because of diabetes, we never have been able to have Pasta and rice, and the main thing we eat is protein. This is the easiest food plan ever, because you will not be hungry, or barely, and you can simplify your life. My husband and I eat whatever we feel like, when we feel like it. Our surgeon is a little different, and told us to eat healthy and make our decisions ourselves, eating Protein first.

So much to choose from, such as boiled egg, eggbeaters, scrambled egg, lowfat cheese stick, FF Soups with added unflavored Protein Powder, refried Beans with a wedge of Laughing Cow White Cheddar cheese melted on it, Protein Shakes to which you can always add SF syrups, Jello powder, pudding powder, Crystal Light powder. I have cooked vegetables, but my old way of cooking is down the drain, lol. No more big pots of green Beans. You can grab a yogurt and it fills you up for lunch. We have been so satisfied with these choices that I haven't cooked but once since surgery 11/18, and that was crockpot chicken. Honestly I ate too much as it was one of my favorite recipes I adapted, so we decided we would be satisfied without having regular meals. You have to change the plan if you have family to feed, of course. You are going to be amazed!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
