Eating 1/2 cup at 6 weeks out?

Recommended Posts

I feel sometimes like I'm able to take in way too much. I never stretch my meals longer than 20 minutes, but there are some things that I can already take in up to 1/2 cup of. Seems like the more moist/watery the food, the more I can put in. If its dry or stiff, I can still take in about 3oz before I feel full. Is this a good amount for this stage?? I'm OK'd to eat everything except bread, rice, and Pasta and I typically eat a lot of Protein dense foods, like chicken thighs, lean ground beef (7% fat), tuna, and crab. (By the way, if you haven't checked out snow crab legs, do! They're enormously high in Protein for very few calories! 3oz of snow crab meat has 23g of protein and less than 100 calories!)

Might also be important to note that I don't drink with my meals, as per instructions, and wait for 30 minutes after eating to drink. Am I eating too much?? Averaging about 500-700 calories per day, 40 carbs, and 75g protein.

I'm only 31/2 weeks but was told that at 6 weeks - meals should be around 3-4 oz total. (all foods combined, if there is more than one). Based on that and your calorie range...and most important...55 lbs since November...I would say you are doing great

At six weeks I was transitioning from purees -- where I was allowed 3 T. of food max per meal -- to soft foods, where I was allowed 3 oz. of food per meal max. 3 meals per day, no Snacks. So that doesn't seem very far off from what you are doing. Your numbers in terms of calories, Protein, & carbs sound good to me. I take it your surgeon didn't provide any guidance with respect to amount of food to eat?

I'm averaging 4oz per meal eating every 3 hours. We have the same medical team. You're doing great!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
