Just saw a commercial for a new Jillian Michael's workout at Curves. Brown- ask your club about it. It looks like rather than marching/jogging in place between machines, you do more complex moves like squats at each station. This might help down the road when you hit the wall, meaning at some point I got "fit" enough that I stopped making progress doing just the Curves 30 min workout. This looks like it helps up the intensity.

Yep that it exactly. They have special Jillian sessions where you hear her telling you what to do. I suspect we are supposed to see her but I haven't seen them turn on the monitors. In between machines we focus on a particular move and everyone does it at the same time. The curves owner said they are trying to attract the younger crowd using Jillian.

You might surprise yourself eventually liking exercise. I started out doing Water aerobics and found it to feel so good... warm Water, fun people, made my body and soul feel great. I only quit it when I just couldn't seem to get an intense enough workout anymore. I have done lots of different things since but now, I am totally digging on these group weight training classes. I love lifting and this keeps it fun, full of music and an instructor that motivates.

I tried a Jillian Michaels session at Curves. They are at set times. I won't be doing that OMG that is a work out. I could not keep up. Normal curves is 30 seconds on a machine and 30 seconds on the mat. The Jilllian circuit is 90 seconds on the mats , seems like forever and less time on the machines. The mat time is the focus and the exercises are really hard. On the floor. Mountain climbing, leg changing , push up things. Crazy kicking things. OMG. Its for the fit not for tis old lady. For those that did curves before try the Jillian circuit

Its not that I don't like exercise I want to move. I just want to enjoy what I am doing and not feel like torture. I do think the curves will help tone some muscles that need toning. And for now the discipline of going will help. As soon as my daughters shift changes I am headin to zumba. I really like that. Then spring and summer I will switch up to tennis. That was fun. And this year I will look cute in the tennis out fit.

Maybe after doing the regular curves, you might even move to the JIllian! Who knows!? Good for you having a movement plan!

The curves workout may be something you eventually "out grow" but it sounds like the Jillian plan is something to work towards. As a former curves trainer I am excited to hear about the changes with the new program. I think it's a good way to keep members from quitting because they "get a tougher workout somewhere else." Congratulations on starting Curves. It's a great way to stay motivated and the trainers will help you stay accountable.

Curves was the last 'gym' I attended, that was in 2002. They drafted money out of our checking account for 12 months.....I went 3x's a week for the first four or five weeks and never darkened the doorway again. It's now a family joke.....yes, they poke fun at me. I swore I'd never join another gym....and I am true to my word.

My advice, if you join and pay....GO!!!!! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
