gowalking 10,790 Posted January 11, 2014 I cab from the train station to the office and most of the regular cabbies know me pretty well. So yesterday I got into the cab and since I've been out a lot because of the hip replacement surgery, the driver hadn't seen me in a while. English is not his first language so I have to remember that he meant it as a compliment when he told me that I was skinny now and not big fat any more. What could I say except thank you... LOL. 19 ADJL, Leepers, Bandista and 16 others reacted to this

kll724 3,055 Posted January 12, 2014 Hey, a compliment is a compliment, no matter how its wrapped. Totally agree! One of my neighbors was telling a new neighbor about how much weight I had lost. The new neighbor wa congratulating me with out trying to sound rude, but it still came out much like that! NSV, great job! BandedBrunette481 310 Posted January 12, 2014 It's such a tricky thing to compliment someone on their weight loss!! Anything along the lines of "you look so skinny now" always sounds like you're telling them you noticed they aren't fat anymore. I love that the language barrier made it that much more obvious haha! 3 kll724, ☠carolinagirl☠ and Bandista reacted to this
goalseeker 695 Posted January 14, 2014 That's awesome. I try to remind myself that if I wasn't fat I wouldn't have done this surgery. I think I liked to believe that people didn't see my fat before lol it's great that we can take compliments even if they aren't wrapped up all pretty. Great job on your journey!!
