Ok I'm having my bypass on 1/28 don't meet with dietician till 1/23 but I'm needing to go grocery shopping this week & was Wanting to get some things I'll need. I'm sure everyone's different but is there anything I can buy now to get a head start. Anything everyone needs to eat or drink in the days follow in surgery? Thanks for your help.

The biggies for me immediately post op were all natural juice (mixed 50/50 with Water, I was required to drink 32 ounces a day for several weeks, if I didn't, my energy was GONE) and broth (I prefer homemade so had it made in the freezer for post-op) along with yogurt (Greek), creamed Soups, retried Beans (thinned to a liquid with broth), and sugar free Jello and pudding. That would have been the majority of my first week post-op, but every plan is different :). Congratulations on being so close!!!!

I'm 9 days post and made the most wonderful thing today. It may sound like no big deal but I am all protien drink out. I cracked a egg in a French onion Soup bowl added, a sprinkle of unflavored protien, a tablespoon of lactose non fat milk, a dash of vanilla Extract, and a pinch of salt and pepper. I whipped it with a fork till smooth. Put it in the microwave for one minute. I only ate alittle more then a quarter since I became full. I'm saving the rest for tomorrow.

sugar free popsicles; outshine by Edy's are awesome! Dannon has a light and fit Greek yogurt that is awesome and full of Protein. I also had cream Soups but wasn't a fan. Sugar Free Jello and pudding went down good but have really no nutritional value. The first week it is about staying hydrated according to my surgeon. I added the protein in at about a week out. Good luck!

Sippy cups and baby spoons really helped me with small sips and bites:).

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
