Twenty two thousand dollars

This November I'll be 2 yrs since the sleeve surgery. I'm waiting to save money. Also to have weight loss stabilized. Since there's so much down time I want to wait for next feb. Because I work in retail I have to have the right time to do it. I plan on running a couple if half marathons this year so this is my year going into my Tummy Tuck. It's like the cherry on the top....

So exciting to have a plan, goals and desires for life and to know what works for you. Yea, recovery in the holiday season not so much. I had ventral hernia repair in early Nov and Thanksgiving that year was a trip!

What about pain? And recovery time? These are two reasons, other than the huge price tag, that I doubt i will ever do plastics. I really hope it works out for you though!

I feel it will be worth it. I've lost weight and workout all the time. But my belly makes me look so fat. I'm also experiencing so many rashes and pain from that. A woman I work with did a body lift and breast all at the same time. She took 2 wks off and just did light duty for a while.

But I'm stoked for it like I was for my sleeve.

Surgery just sucks. It's true: you have to want it to be a good candidate for the recovery.

Pain was not an issue for me...but recovery was a long road that interfered with my life....lol. made me a little crazy!

Now, 3months post op I am so glad I did it!!!!!!!

When I ride bikes and horses I no longer have skin sitting on my lap.

I love showing off, not hiding my arms...I can go on and on.... :)

Yeah the pain isn't bad at all. It's the lack of mobility and stopping of all activity for so long. It's truly a long recovery....much more so than WLS.

Did you guys have a pain block?

I do not think I did. You mean like a spinal? No but I did wake up with a morphine pump. That was good for that first day. After that there was not much pain at all. Except for where they did the Lipo. That was extremely tender for weeks.

Kinda like a spinal. When I had my rotator cuff repaired they gave me a nerve block in my neck. I felt nothing for 24 hours. It was awesome and freaky. Made everything after that super manageable.

I don't have any ibuprofen restrictions and that's what really works best for me.

I'll ask at the preop. I'm just curious what they'll do since I'm staying over night....

Three years is a long time. Maybe the winds will change in your favor again? It is a huge commitment....

I cannot believe how much US docs charge for plastics! What she has quoted you on is nothing more than what my surgeon in Mexico calls the Mommy Makeover...which he charges not quite $8,000 for which includes EVERYTHING except airfare. But, I understand not everyone wants to go to Mexico which I a shame as my surgeon is excellent. Just think, 22,000 minus 8,000 is 14,000. That's a LOT of money to have left over for new clothes.

Yes can I also have the doctors name and info

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
