wrong date of birth = no surgery?

Recommended Posts

My insurance messed up my birthday. My birthday is january 24th and they put january 29th..I tried to fix it for months and each time they assured me it was taken care of. Now, 3 days before I get sleeved, I got a call from the hospital to inform me that there is an issue with my DOB. They went on to tell me that this might postpone my surgery. so now i'm freaking out because it's friday and my surgery is on monday, there is no way I can correct this in time.

Can you go to the admissions desk at the hospital tomorrow and straighten it out? The business office might not be open, but there is always someone in admissions.

I went through something similar except, the Dr.'s office that I went through had another person's name (similar to mine), her DOB, and her address/phone. I told them when I went to My consultation they had the wrong info. They said they would change it.

Fast forward 6 months (right up to the Friday before my surgery) and they STILL had my information on half of my paperwork incorrect. I still had my surgery (on Tuesday) they told me it wasn't going to affect my surgery. Funny thing is there was another lady with my name (spelled a little differently), different DOB, and of course different address and phone. She was trying to have the surgery too. I hope after all that she got her surgery. I went through ALL my authorizations and made sure it was my info and not hers! CRAZINESS!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
