Four-1/2 months post surgery

Recommended Posts

I thought I would drop in and update you all. I have lost from 252 pre-surgery to 195 today. I'm currently in a stall because of Cookies and chocolate, I'm sure! I couldn't resist the after-Christmas bargain candy and cookie mix.

I boxed it all up today and I'm either going to give it away or toss it!

I'm a little tired of all this Protein. I'm looking for new options. I'm tired of tuna, chicken, cottage cheese and can't tolerate beef at all! ANY SUGGESTIONS?

On another subject, DATING. I've been single for years but I just met someone very interesting!

It's so nice to look and feel so much better!

Congratulations! That's a huge drop in four n 1/2 months! I was just sleeved on Tuesday. I enjoy reading about other sleeved patients and their recovery. Sorry I'm still at the stage two (yogurts, applesauce, Soups - only broth & creamy). I would LOVE some steamed veggies, I can't wait until I'm at that stage. How long after you were sleeved did you go back to work? And good luck with your new dating life! How exciting is that!!!!!

Absolutely! When I graduated to soft foods, I was a happy camper! I can eat just about anything now. Dense bread doesn't go down easily (and that's a good thing! Too fattening) but biscuits and tortilla chips are very easy to over-eat! I had sushi for the first time the other day. Three pieces and I was stuffed! Sure was good, though.

I feel good but when I make bad food choices, I feel yucky.

Good luck to you!

Regarding work, I'm retired so didn't have to deal with that! Also, a few days after my surgery, I had an intestinal blockage that had to be surgically repaired. The second surgery was not laparoscopic so took longer to recover. To compound things, I developed aspiration pneumonia because I aspirated during that emergency surgery.

Even with all of those post-surgery complications, it was worth it because I can walk the whole length of the mall again! THE BEST THING IS I CAN SHOP FOR CLOTHES IN REGULAR SIZES!!!!

Wow, you had a lot of obstacles. I'm glad for you that they turned out in your favor! I can't wait until I can actually shop in regular sized clothes.

I am 7 weeks post sleeve. Been feeling good up to when i try full foods. Can't keep anything solid down. I'm so tired if pureed food and Protein Shakes. I had my first (emotional eatting effort) glad it was icecream! Took about 5 spoonfull...way to fast...ugghh...talk about hurt and milky foamy stuff. Thank God though .. i don't think i will turn to food next time!!! LOL

CONGRATS on your weight loss. And go slow on the dating. There are many experiences to enjoy.

May i ask...how long dud it take you to keep down solid foods?

Start wt 225 surg wt 220 (1/4/14) todays wt 193# losing most at 3 weeks...just a pound or two weekly now. But that's more than i lost all of last year. Still no real hunger. Just worry about the proper amount of Proteins ..when i can't seem to get to next stage of foods.

Thanks for your input.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
