When did you go back to work?

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on 10/25 and a second surgery nonsleeve related on 11/4. I started working part time from home on 11/5 through 11/8 and returned full time on 11/11. I wound up getting a cold later that week so the first week was a little rough. I think the second surgery was too much too soon, but everything is good now.

I was back at work in 10 days, but I've read several posts about being back at work after only 3 or 4 days.

I went back 3 weeks after surgery. I wanted to go back 2 weeks after but my back pains didnt allow me....Even with me going back to work 3 weeks after, my back pains was brutal. My best advice to everyone is to TAKE YOUR TIME. Let your body rest and remember this is a major surgery and your body is changing. Please dont rush it...

I go back Monday it will be a month then. I'm a teller at a bank and I'm always back and forth and lifting coin boxes. I'm taking a additional two weeks of no lifting.

honey love, you are amazing! I give you a lot of credit!

Jaime Kissinger, I was very exhausted and tired. I slept every chance I got and on my days off, I slept the first 24 hours. Thank goodness my hubby and kids were so supportive. I just started having more energy and less sleepy last week, bout 4 weeks post op. I am forever greatful and appreciative that I had a fantastic recovery despite not getting the proper rest.

Went back to work today after 13 days today to an office job. I'm very tired and my abs are sore - apparently it takes a lot to sit up for 8 hrs.

Hey there,

I'm just over a week out and feel like I could go back to work yesterday. I have a desk job which makes it easier, my only concern is feeling fatigued. I plan on going back next Monday (2 weeks out) and trying it out with a half day. I'm lucky enough to have saved a bunch of vacation time so that helps with the financial stress. My coworkers are all supportive and my boss is amazing so I'm not worried about going in to be paid to sit on my butt :) Good luck to you!

Angela :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
