My Puree phase is fast approaching. I am so excited to eat again but am a little nervous. I am still having a hard time with acid and nausea. My surgeon just put me on a second nausea med and told me an over the counter antacid was fine. I will pick those up later today and start them.

Here is my questions:

What do you suggest eating during the puree phase?

Was there anything you tried that you regretted after?

Any suggestions or comments would be very helpful.

Thank you in advance :)

What we can eat is so individual. Many people do not tolerate eggs, yet for me, eggs are my go-to. I admit to eating baby food, because it did not seem to make sense to cook batches of anything right now. I have made a couple of Soups and put them in the blender.

I add whey Protein to as many foods as I can. I think on my second week of soft foods I may incorporate fresh chicken. I don't see how something spicy like chili can be on my mushie list, but some folks are just being creative with what they have on hand. For my plan, it looks like the purees are just thinner versions of my soft foods list.

I am on purées. For Breakfast I am having half of a baby bel triangle. Lunch: 2Tb humus. Dinner: 2Tb watered down refried Beans with a sprinkle of cheese. Sometimes I'll alternate some premade Panera bread lobster bisque for dinner. I didn't eat eggs before VSG, so I have no reason to try them now.

Panera bread lobster bisque sounds delicious! Might have to get some. Baby bel or tiger cheese sounds yummy too. Yeah, new ideas for food.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
