I want the weight off NOW!

Recommended Posts

Hear me out though. I've been obese my whole life and when I finally started the VSG journey it opened my eyes to how unhealthy my lifestyle was and how overweight I was so decided to do something about it. Now that I've had the surgery, I cannot stop weighing myself and obsessing about my appearance. I'm so excited at the prospect of being thin that I cannot wait anymore. I feel embarrassed walking around at this weight. Also feel impatient and want to hide away until I lose a considerable amount of weight. Of course I've been telling myself I'd be a sack of skin if this happened so be patient but it's so hard. I'm so ready to see what the new me is going to look like.

you are not alone! i'm four months post-op and find myself on the scale multiple times a day.... always looking for that loss and bumming out when there seems to be a gain! I honestly don't know if it's "good" or "bad" to do it - but, I know I want it off now, too. can't believe I let myself get to where I was - and can't wait to get to where I need to be. personally, if the scale is helping you stay in check I don't see too much wrong with it. now, if you start carrying one around with you - then you may have a problem :) this is a LONG journey that will never end if we want to keep this weight off. hang in there!

Sorry...........You will lose it when you lose it..You cannot speed it up! Be patient and enjoy the ride and take the time to learn new habits and help them become part of your life...work on your brain.. Spend time thinking and fixing why you got here in the first place...Trust me it will all happen but when your body is ready...Enjoy the little changes as they come because one day there will be a new you standing there and you really need to know who this new person is and how to keep her forever...

i felt like you and now over a year later...no one knows who I am I have changed so much....I was not prepared for the changes I see even though I was like you in a hurry.......

I am a learning process and a changing picture all the time..It is hard to keep up.....Enjoy each size down and each NSV....You need them to get you there and stay there....K

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
