So...

Today was my 6th appointment with the nutritionist, pretty exciting right!!! How about not. As I went to my last appointment while talking to my nutritionist she informed me the O.R. Is booking 6 weeks out, not only that but because I was a smoker (haven't smoked in 60 except once) I gained like 27 pounds. I know have to see her (nutritionist) for another two months and lose 27lbs, I'm feeling so defeated, I just wanna cry

You can do it.

Do whatever it takes to get qualified.

I wish I had hoops to jump through, instead, I forked over $19k to get the sleeve - miraculously most objections faded away when I handed over my cold hard cash.

You can do this. I dropped 24lbs prior to surgery.

Thank you for sharing.

Don't do that...K. Push through this...Think about why you are taking this step and work it...It will be good practice for after the surgery when the real hard work begins....Look at it as a learning stage to eat better and change some habits....I waited 4 years for my surgery...i think you will be fine....Just move ahead and make the best of it! You got this. :)

So sorry you are going through that. Hang in there. You can do it. I am a fellow ex smoker myself. I totally understand. The 2 months will fly by. You will see and you will be in such a better place and ready for your surgery. You can do this as others on this forum say :)

Thanks y'all, it's just frustrating and I feel as though when I started gaining weight my nutritionist should of said something before it got to this point

You are not defeated, you've just taken an unexpected blow and it's hurting.

So, now that you've shared your disappointment with us, dust yourself down, grit your teeth and get familiar with what you need to do to lose weight between now and then.

You can do this... when you do get sleeved, it wont always be easy and you need to be determined to succeed. But it will be worth it... so time to focus on getting to where your nut wants you to be.

Chin up, sending you a hug :-) Keep posting as you go, there's lots of support and encouragement on here!

Our program made it well known to us that if we gained weight at any point pre-op, our surgery would be delayed. Sorry your NUT wasn't up front with you about this. There is a reason for it, as annoying as it must be for you right now. They want to make sure your commitment is there, since the sleeve isn't a magical pill. As you know, the sleeve takes work, and it doesn't take away all our bad behaviors and desires for certain types of food. I'm sure your NUT just wants to ensure that you will be successful for the long haul.

I know you can do this! Best of luck.

Amy

Ten years of seminars, learning, disappointments, frustrations, HBP, diabetes, more weight gain and other health problems finally got us to the sleeve. If you quit the cigarettes praise the Lord. What an accomplishment! Asthma helped me to stop smoking 4 years ago. Now I can walk and breathe thanks to sleeving. Your day will come. It will be so worth it!!! best of luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
