2 weeks and haven't lost anything in a week? -10 to 11lbs from DS.

I was doing great for a few days when I started eating soft to regular foods per Dr.....and then problems. I haven't tolerated anything I ate yesterday. Going back to Protein Shakes for a few days. I know it's early but discouraging never the less.

Friend, it happens to every one of us. We all get stalls and "stairsteps". JUST KEEP ON with your program! Do not give up!!

Sorry for being a whiner......I think everyone is in fear that they will be the exception and not lose weight. I've also wondered if my pouch was made small enough....or if the dr didn't really do the surgery and only made incisions. It's crazy the thoughts and fears that come out. Thanks for listening.

You're allowed to whine. It's very normal. :) You've made a very big change in your life.

Do yourself a favor. Stop weighing. I didn't weigh till the doctor weighed me the first time. Then monthly. That way I didn't see the highs or lows as I knew I'd go nuts.

I felt so incredible from day 1 that I swore the doctor didn't do the surgery. No pain, tons of energy, a poster child for the surgery. I lost 16 lbs. before surgery and lost another 9 the 1rst week. Since then, nothing! I'm trying not to get discouraged but it is so hard. Everyone says to be patient but I expected a little better than this. It's been 4 weeks and now I'm getting weepy and miserable. You are definitely not alone!

My surgeon said that sometimes that happens where people don't lose the first 4 weeks after surgery he's seen it happen . And then on the next apt they lose a grip load of weight. I am almost 7 months post op (surgery was August 6 2013) and I've lost approximately 100lbs. I am down 140lbs from my highest weight and I've had TONS of stalls :-/ I actually just got over a stall of 6weeks and dropped 12 lbs in less than a week. This happens sometimes maybe adjust your Protein intake get a lil more in and try to increase your Water this sometimes helps me along with more exercise if your body will allow you. Good luck :-)

I am really grateful to have read this experience. I'm new to the board and just posted about how I'm 7 weeks post-op and 18 lbs down but feel "behind." (I also recently experienced a 7 lb spike in my weight but it has since come down post-time of the month). It helps to know that others have gone through this and that I will be okay. Like the original poster, I too am fearful that I will be the exception to the rule and will not be successful at this!

I also gain about 7lbs during tht time of the month and it takes about a week post that time to go away. I was talkingn to my surgeon and he said he sees paitients that don't lose a pound till their 3-4months post op I'm like that's crazy but it happens. Our bodies are in shock so that's why this happens. I also thought I wouldn't lose and I'd be the exception to the rule but I am dwn from 350lbs to 190lbs. Day of surgery I weighed 302 so that's just over 110lbs dwn since surgery almost 9months ago!

I'm confused. What surgery did you have. I thought my the thread title you had the DS. But you said you have pouch so that makes me think you had RNY. Was just wondering which it was.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
