really didnt have time to enjoy year 1

Recommended Posts

The first year after surgery (mine was Aug 2012) went by like a tornado....FAST, Fierce, exciting, scary...there was no time to stop & smell the roses... Im finding year 2 to be quite different....although just as scary....When to stop losing, How to stop losing, what is my comfort weight range....staying on exercise track....planned panniculectomy.....somewhat overwhelming...Im really looking forward to year 3 because it seems like then MAYBE I can finally relaxe

I gotta tell you, I'm closer to 60 than 50, retired, 2 grand kids out of high school, and I still find new challenges and changes every year. Spring is my typical time to take on a new oroject. I'm still working on what that will be this year, but I'm thinking it will be making better use of my volunteer time to make the changes I want in my community.

I got to goal weight in year 1, didn't opt for plastics so year two was all about staying at goal. Year three, more of the same, but with a smaller bounce range. With less than 6 months to my third surgiversery, I am much more accustomed to how I need to eat to maintain, my size and the size of my clothes, and how much I can do without tiring now that I don't carry an extra 100+ pounds with me everywhere I go.

People rarely comment on my weight these days, which is a relief after hearing about it nonstop for the first year.

I guess what I'm trying to say is similar to what LL said, enjoy the journey, it's all we've got.

I was going to say, well, you NEVER RELAX! Ha! I'm 3 1/2 years out and relaxed at about 3 years and regained 27 pounds. Lol. I've worked hard to lose it and another 10 but just know, life doesn't reach a point where you can just forget about your sleeve and eating habits. At least fore it didn't. :).

We are never guaranteed another day, another week or another year. I'd suggest you find a way to enjoy your journey because there really is no final desitination. :)

Omgsh, Amen and ima lv it at that!

I think I understand what you're talking about. The change is a lifetime change. We all heard that but couldn't really know what that meant. The first year is exhilarating and fascinating and scary kinda like a roller coaster: up, down and fast and slow. The second year, yup. I'm right there. Time to stop losing. How will I work that? I think what you're defining is effort. Everyday on this joinery there's a choice about how much effort and where to put it. I'm kinda over the body as a project. I want to maintain my effort. My lifestyle but I'm ready to be on the other side of plastics and at goal. Recovered and maintaining. That kind of relaxation.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
