Hello everyone... I have a question about pb'ing. From what I have read it is when your food doesn't go down and it gets stuck. Some people mention they foam at the mouth and there is slime? Someone please explain to me what exactly happens.;)

basically your stomach is trying to lubricate what is stuck and push it through, but it can't so the slime gets backed up, you barf but instead of being vomit, its a slime like stuff.

Felicia, the slime is the bodies way of trying to help us get whatever is stuck or overeaten passed on through. Slime is a thick...make that very thick, very gooey, sticky saliva. There is just a huge amount of it. Like Desiree said, it is made by the body, because the body is trying to slick it up and help it pass. The problem with that is when we have something stuck or have overeaten and the slime is being produced, there is nowhere for it to go! It backs up, and the best way to deal with it is to spit it out---not pretty but most effective. If the obstruction or excess food and slime are all swallowed, and don't pass fast enough, you often end up throwing up...in a manner, called a PB. The biggest difference in a PB and actual vomiting, is that with a PB it is usually just undigested food and slime. No stomach acids...they are in the lower stomach area. Foaming, is just a form of slime, often caused by trying to drink to pass the offending food. If I drink, I get foamy---which just feels like it is expanding in an already full little pouch. If I make the mistake of trying to drink it away---I will PB---both times it has happen, that was my BIG mistake!!!

In my opinion "PB" sounds like a mild little burp thing, and it isn't for me, it is much more like truly vomiting. But I have never been able to throw up easily---I have to be VERY ill!!! Maybe that is why it is a biggie to me!!

Neither are pleasant, and ideally for the health of your tummy and your band, should be avoided. But they happen to most of us one time or another. Keeping an empty water bottle or disposable cup in the car, in case you get to a point of sliming, is always a good idea. They say airsick bags are perfect, but where do you get those if you don't fly often???

Bandster eating rules really do help---I am just a slow learner sometimes!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
