Heads up - New Series of British TV Documentary "Fat Doctors"

Recommended Posts

Several months ago I let everyone know about a great TV series I had found on Youtube called "Fat Doctor" about bariatric surgeon Shaw Somers. The show follows one or two new patients undergoing wls. It's a bit graphic but real and interesting.

There is at least another entire new season now on youtube and a show called "Fat Surgeons"

and for those of you who watched the earlier seasons you'll be happy to know that they follow up on earlier patients so you can get a real feel of how much weight they have lost.

I won't give anything away but there is one patient they follow up on and I literally had no idea who he was until they showed his before photos. The transformation was utterly breathtaking.

Anyway enjoy !!

I don't know whether you would be able access this - as it is on a British website - but this is the channel over here that is showing the series 'Fat Surgeons'.

This is the link to both series and all the episodes. Hopefully it'll work for you all. You may have to register to access.

Fingers crossed! :)

Yes he's lovely and we mostly seem to talk about music as I'm a singer in a band and he plays guitar. He instantly gives you confidence that you have done the right thing.

Yes, I started watching it before I saw your announcement.

For anyone who wanted a quick link with searching, go to: http://bit.ly/2vJ9uZf

This lists the series (almost) from beginning to end ... it's nearly in order on the FAT DOCTOR Youtube page.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
