Fill too tight

Recommended Posts

Be read many threads on here about a fill that is too tight. I had a fill two weeks ago and it is def tight. I don't know if I should have any removed. Some say leave it and it will relax after about four months, and others say have some removed. I hate to do this because it is actually the first fill I have lost with. Any suggestions?

id call and refer to your doctor and let them advise you as you are right, some will say leave it in and some say remove it.....if you cant eat or drink comfy, then that is not a good way to live *my opinion*.....feel better

If it is uncomfortable eating or drinking, you need a (SMALL) defill. Otherwise you could end up dilating your esophogus - this leads to seriuos consequences. I am speaking from experience...

I agree with the above posters. If you are not comfortable eating and drinking then you might need just a tiny bit of the fill taken out.

Remember that you can always go and have it put back in as you need it. :)

I'm curious what you mean by too tight - can you explain what your are experiencing? I got my 2nd fill on Monday and I feel tight too, but when I eat, as long as I eat slow and feel the food go thru then I am feeling like I'm probably not at that "green zone" place... but I am not sure - i've only been banded since Oct. 23rd - so still very much feel like a newbie.

Jammiebp - What are you experiencing? Details please :) :)

My food does not go down very well. I can eat cream of wheat & Soups slowly, but several times it comes back up. When I eat solid food it definitely comes back up. If I take too large of a drink it comes up. I can tell I'm pretty tight because it feels like it is stuck in my upper stomach. It feels like it takes a while to go down. Not everything is coming back up though. I can tell because my loosing has slowed down. Before surgery a girl at lapcorp. Said she hated her band. That when she ate her food would come back up and she gained all her weight back. First, if it was all coming back up she would not have gained all her weight back. Second, she mAde the comment crunchy and fried food went down better than the foods she should eat. I think she was tired of making the right choices and because she failed, she wanted me to feel like I would too. I'm still so new to this I want to do it the right way.

I would give the doc a call and have some Fluid taken out. With the band you should be able to eat solid foods and not be bringing ANY foods back up.

I'm sorry about the person you met at the lab, not everyone that has this surgery is ready to be fully committed to it. I know it's hard not to listen to the negative comments, for some reason they stick in our minds sharper then the positive ones.

I'm glad you came here for support, and didn't just listen to this persons negative feed back. Please do give your doctor a call about the fill and see if you can have a tiny bit removed so that you are not bringing up foods that is never a good sign.

Until you are able to make it into the doctor stay hydrated and go back to mushy foods or Protein shakes so you don't hurt yourself.

I wouldn't get an unfill until you've tested whether it's tight because you're cold. Mine nearly collapses when it's less than say 70 degrees around me. When you eat, you need to be sitting erect, in a warm environment and not distracted. Especially during times of colder temps.

That is very interesting! We have been having some extremely cold weather for Texas this past month. Thank you!

I too am tight in the cold weather. Actually my tummy feels odd when I am out in the freezing weather we have been having. I noticed it the last couple of days while driving into work.

Then again our temps here have been extreme during this polar vortex thing. Really not loving this winter weather. I am much more a summer gal!

My last fill made me really tight. I just are Soup and mushies for awhile and it loosened up. Took a few weeks though. Now I'm going Monday for another fill. But like they say if you can't comfortable get anything down get an unfill. Good luck!

I'd never known what sliming was until the last fill, geez that was an experience!

My dear, if your chest hurts, you can't keep liquids down, then yes you are way too tight. A small unfill will help. I have been filled and unfilled in the first two years of what is now three yrs til it ain't funny. You have to be able to eat and drink comfortably. The weight and inches will come off. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
