Just confirmed my appointment with the surgeon for 3/10/14!!!!! It seems so real now. I mean, I made up my mind and sat with my husband and discussed all of this and what it means, what I will have (and want) to do, and all the risks and benefits. Now that the surgeon appt is on the books.... It's something I can't wait for, and I'm excited and nervous and scared at the same time.

I feel the same way. I am nervous and excited at the same time. It felt real when I received my surgery date. I am scheduled for February 18th. Good luck on your journey.

Good luck to you as well. This is my very first appointment. So surgery is probably still "in the distance"... I am hoping maybe mid may, early June. Keep us posted on your surgery. Many happy thoughts and prayers and love sent to you!!!

Just wanted to update everyone..... My surgery is set for May 22,2014!!! I just found out this afternoon. I am so excited and nervous and full of emotion. I have to lose 10 lbs before the surgery and I am already starting to eat off of the pre-op diet. Here's to the official start of the new me, new life, new lifestyle!! I hope all is well with each of you. And I do apologize for not checking in sooner. Life has been bull dozing me over lately.

MY date hasn't been set yet. I have to lose another 20 pounds. Any other time it wouldn't be hard to do, but this time I just can't stick with it!! I know I'm ready but can't figure out the hold-up!!

I was just wondering how you are doing??? Pre op weight loss was tough for me too. I discovered that a Breakfast Protein Shake made all the difference, no matter what I did the rest of the day. Once I gave into the shakes. I lost 14lbs in 2 weeks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
