michelev97 27 Posted January 8, 2014 I'm looking for suggestions as I transition from pureed to soft foods. I found out eggs are not my friend. I tried them for the second time. Help
Chele H 427 Posted January 8, 2014 I never really had a "soft" stage...after my purees I just made sure my meats were moist and tender and used gravy if I needed to. How about meatballs? Meatloaf? Refried Beans with some cheddar and light sour cream?
LindafromFlorida 1,542 Posted January 8, 2014 Husband and I are sticking with basics awhile and enjoying it. No worries with cooking and planning. Have cottage cheese, refried Beans, FF Soups, etc. on hand. No breads, Cookies or temptations here. I snack on a couple well chewed freeze dried Edamame which I love. I did make some steamed cabbage this week to get some veggies in. Every recipe calls for so much and we don't eat the leftovers so much. I made a delicious crockpot chicken with FF mushroom Soup 5 weeks out, but it was so good I didnt chew so well or swallowed too fast. Decided I would wait on experimenting with recipes. I am loving chili and warm foods, so exception is to make chili lowfat with Beans and enjoy! We are still having a shake 1 meal a day.
BestYet2Come 97 Posted January 8, 2014 I am on soft foods now. I eat mostly: cottage cheese ground beef with Tomato sauce mashed moussaka (greek dish of mashed potato, eggplant and ground beef) greek yogurt Soups (I make and blend them, i.e. kale, potato, chicken soup) Protein shakes canned tuna in Water with mayo meatball Labneh (sour cheese - delish and only 30 cal for 2 tbsps) some hummus (not much because of the carbs content)
LindafromFlorida 1,542 Posted January 8, 2014 Have you also tried mini meatloaves in a muffin pan? Or small egg/cheese/turkey sausage type things baked in muffin pans like mini Quiche? You might tolerate eggs another way.
Thick'n'Thin 171 Posted January 8, 2014 Mmm... I think I need to make mini BBQ meatloaf's. I made a LC BBQ Sauce I wrote about HERE that was tasty, it would be perfect for meatloaf. Also, if you have an Acme (or Albertson's or the like) shady brooks 93% lean ground turkey is on sale 2.99 for 20oz or 2.49 each when you buy 6. They also have green giant boxed veggies on sale .88 each too. Cook them the longer of the suggested cooking times and they are soft. I've had the spinach with butter sauce, brussel sprouts, broccoli w. cheese, and cauliflower w. cheese. I'm hungry now...lol.
