sugar-free juices?

Recommended Posts

Can someone tell me where I can find sugar-free juices? I have to admit that I'm not quite sure what that means. I thought sugar-free juices meant basically no carbs but the ones I saw at Walmart that claimed to be sugar-free all were loaded with carbs. I have a juicer and might have to make my own, at least initially after surgery in 3 days but I'd much rather purchase REAL sugar free juices. I can't live without my juice (which is a soda substitute for me since I was hooked on sodas). Besides, that juicer is HECK to clean!

Fruits have sugar... I've never heard of this??

Any fruit juice, even if labeled as sugar free, is going to have carbs. The reason being is that all fruit has carbohydrates. I was a soda addict, too.... big time!

Eta: the sugar free stuff usually contains a small percentage of fruit juice.

Fresh fruit is naturally sweet and don't have artificial sugar or sweeteners but I guess I get confused when it says 100% juice and sugar free but then have corn Syrup added as a sweetener. I'm just gonna have to use my juicer. That way I will be positive that I know what I'm taking in.

When I need "sugar free" juice, I get them from food For Less, which is part of the Kroger chain here in Chicago. They are 5 calories, and though they are not 100% juice, they satisfy that fruity flavor in my mouth. Ocean Spray has some cranberry w/ other fruit that are 5 calorie.

I like the Ocean Spray Diet Blueberry myself. An 8oz serving only has 5 calories, and 2g carbs (2g sugar). Doesn't taste too bad either! They have diet cranberry, and diet pomegranate blueberry as well for other flavors. I also opt for low cal/low sugar orange juice as well.

What kind of juicer do you have? I'm looking into getting one and juicing after watching a documentary on net flicks but not sure what to look for to get best for less

I have the BIG BOSS juicer. You can get them in Canada for less then $70 At Walmart. It works great. Juicers are a pain to clean sometimes but it's worth it!! There are so many yummy yummy recipes.

I also have the Nutribullet as well. And I use that when I'm in a hurry and don't have time to juice.

(I'm pre-op)

Sobe life Water tastes decent. The sugar free poweraide and gatoraides taste good too. Not really a "juice" tho but when I started getting ready for surgery and awhile after I drank a lot of those powdered crystal light type things to transition off carbonation as I too had been a soda junkie. I mostly just drink Water and coffee now tho. Thankfully my craving for drinking sweet stuff has mostly subsided since being sleeved. My Dr. told me awhile back that juice really isn't that great for you, might as well eat the fruit and get the Fiber in as well. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
