Erin. Nicole. Happy your surgery is behind you and your at home on your way down! The first week is the roughest so walk, drink what u can .. Try hard for the Protein amounts ( it was awhile before I reached them ). Use a heating pad if the dioxide gas in uncomfortable.. Drink from a sippy cup for a few weeks.. And just enjoy it all... Energy level improves with days and weeks! Think positive!!

So it's been about 2 1/2 weeks since surgery. I have definitely had my ups and downs. I ended up with a horrible UTI when I came home from the hospital and that lasted for about a week. I am over the mashed potatoes, Beans, applesauce, and yogurt. I can't eat all 3 meals usually. I am having trouble getting all of my Protein down. It makes me sick to my stomach. BUT through all of that I am a happy girl who has lost just about 30 lbs, 29 officially. I have my first post op doctors appointment on Feb 3 and hopefully get the all clear to move to the next food level. The 2 oz fill me up, but I am more than ready to add some chicken and texture to my food options!! ;) I know each day gets better! Nobody said this was easy..... And I'm well aware of that but I didn't realize how much I relied on food. Not just fast food, but the snack crackers during the day! It's really pathetic how much I miss going out to eat...hahaha

It's good to hear from you. It will get better! Have you tried the pure Protein Shakes in a bottle? They are very light, not thick like the Protein you mix yourself. That is what got me through the first month. I like the frosty chocolate. I buy mine at Walmart.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
