The only thing I don't LOVE about my sleeve...

Tip: preheat that electric blanket before you hop in.

Everything these days causes cancer, it seems. A study can be found to support almost any theory on anything. I really don't think using an electric blanket is any more dangerous than coffee, wine, hair color, chocolate, using cell phones or whatever the "caution of the day" is.

It's not just a sleeve thing it's a lost weight thing. I too am always cold. I'm under a blanket and my feet are like ice. It's my new normal.

Oh, yes! Any change from any weight loss I'm sure.

Someone would ask, "does it feel (hot/cold) in here to you?" I would say, "I'm not the one to ask. I'm always hot." Now I keep a sweater at work, a heating pad on the bed, have an obsession with buying jackets and dream of living in Hawaii! I want to be warm!!!!

It's not just the losing insulation thing, it is actually also about needed to exert less energy just to live.

It was explained to me using the analogy of an electric mixer- use it to whip cream, no problems. Use the very same mixer to mix bread, and the mixer has to work harder, getting sluggish and heating up. You can feel it warming in your hand. It has to work harder as it is trying to move more mass and that energy generates heat.

It works the same in our bodies. We are not generating the internal heat we used to generate just by having to move around more mass.

It takes about two years post OP for the body to reclimatise and adjust.

Well I'm 2 years at goal and still get colder, except late at night. I usually wake up too hot at least once per night and have to adjust my covers.

I got silk long johns and extra thick wool socks for Christmas along with thicker gloves for my morning walks. If it very cold out I wear a hat too.

My stay warm tip? Get up and move to get the blood flowing. And heat your blankie in the dryer for a few minutes. Yum!

Ok I'm from FL and I am sitting here freezing at 50 degrees Fahrenheit. My NY relatives laugh at me but I've lost 80 lbs since 12/28/12 and I 'm sitting here in a sweatshirt, sweater and jacket and I still have 60 lbs to lose! I guess I'd rather bundle up than have the weight! :-)

I'm still pre-op (surg. date Feb 25th, 2014). I get so hot at night that I have to sleep with the covers off of my legs at least. I can't wait to be cold natured. I hate to sweat. If I were to get really cold, I could always take a hot shower or dress in layers or something. I remember once being cold natured when I was in my early 20s (much slimmer then), and I would take a hair dryer and blow warm air under the covers before jumping in my bed. That is still an option, lol!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
