Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

I made one week and i really think i did not get sleeved haha

Recommended Posts

I went back to work today since I work in a office. I forgot how much emails I print daily and I have to get up and walk few feet to the printer. Not that it was such a big deal but getting up every few minutes, made me tired. My boss was so nice and didn't pressure me so I pretty much took my time.

Today was a miracle for me. I was able to drink plain Water all afternoon. And not just sips but actually tasted it lol. This is my first time in a week. I think it has to do with my chewing sugar free gum. The nutritionist told me I can as long as I don't swallow the gum. I guess that's the secret to drinking plain Water.< /p>

As soon as I got home I had to use the bathroom (#2 sorry). It's been a week and I was worried. I wonder if it has to do with the water lol. Not complaining.

After an 8 hour shift I still managed to go the mall to return something and went to 2 different stores. Am I tired? Yes my legs are numb lol.

I thank god for giving me such an amazing journey with no problems thus far.

6 more days until I can have some mashed potatoes that I've been craving... Ohh and the yogurt too. :) ok yes I know I have to watch what I eat but I have to get a bite..

Now I'm enjoying my Soup broth and maybe watch some Netflix. :)

I found instant potatoes flavored with garlic. Not normally my cup of tea, but they went down so easy and tasted delicious! Just wait until you can eat an egg! That was heaven for me! :) Congratulations!

When I saw the title of this post I thought it's amazing because I made that statement yesterday and I'm over three months out. I, thank goodness, have never had any problems that have made me feel like I was ever operated on with the exception of eating that last bite that was one bite too much. :)

But it's what I am quoting you on that bothered me and I did have a huge problem on the first day I was going back to work and had to stay home. I was just five days out and I got so constipated that I thought I was going to end up going to an emergency room. The old joke of the different body parts saying to each other which is the most important turned out to be true. I shut down and was ready to die.

If you were a week out before you went you might want to do something before what happened to me happens to you. Here's what the nurse practitioner told me to do from then on until I was sure it wouldn't happen again.

First, get a bottle of Benefiber and use it once a day. Then, if you don't go everyday, take Miralax the next day (keep up the Benefiber). Both of these are powders and you dissolve in a little milk or any drink. You'll never know they are there. Also, I used the Equate brand as it's much cheaper than the name brands.

If you don't go in three days, take a swig of Milk of Magnesia. That works within a half hour to an hour so don't take it unless you know you'll be close to a bathroom then. :)

I'm telling you, I've heard that a lot of sleeve people have this problem as it's hard to stay hydrated. Please know, I don't want anyone to go thru what I did as I've never had such pain. Other than that, good luck. :)

Good for you! I hope you don't pay for it tomorrow, though.

I'm 6 days post op and I spent 1hr walking around costco AND managed to drive home, where I tried on all my clothes and ended up putting almost half of them in the Goodwill box. Yes, I've lost 10-lbs since surgery and 20-lbs before that. I'm just shocked, to tell you the truth. I haven't had the energy to start working yet, but I think next week I can start working from home some.

Thank you everyone :) ... My job is so nice that they give me all the time to heal. Since I decided a week was enough my boss is going really easy. He told me to take my time. Luckily we are slow. I work for a law firm.

I will have to look into Fiber. I might need it :)

Mashed potatoes were recommended by my NUT for soft food stage.

While I agree with staying away from starches, 1 week out of surgery means teaching your new sleeve how to swallow while still getting most of your Protein from liquids. 2-3 TBL of mashed potatoes will not be a bad choice in the soft food stage. Watch out who you call a "bad sleever". Not cool.

I feel the same exact way. I am 2 months 2 weeks and 3 days out. I feel AMAZING!! I even named my new stomach. (La FORTUNA.. the future) Congratulations to YOU!! And try not to eat starch just yet. Remember after your surgery its like a reset button to your metabolism for up to the next 18 months. Then it levels out. Now You don't want to slow down your metabolism with a lot of starchy foods. I understand that craving but just go back to your motivation to curb those potato thoughts. Wishing EVERYONE MUCH SUCCESS IN YOUR JOURNEY

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
