When Your Port Pokes Out...

Recommended Posts

I'm 5 lbs. from my goal and my port is very apparent now. When I started this journey, there was so much fat around my middle, I could hardly feel the port, much less see it. Well now, most of the fat is gone and the port is very high profile and I'm self conscious during sex because it's so hard and very noticeable. What are my options?

I'm going for a Brazilian Butt Lift (yeah, my junk is gone and I'm relocating the rest of my fat so I can put it back) in March, so I don't want to do anything too drastic that might make me loose more weight - I can't really afford to lose another ounce of fat. Any suggestions?

Hey lady, you could have a low profile port put in to replace the one you currently have. Give your lapband surgeon's office a call and ask him about it they have a couple of low profile options out there.

When were you banded? Like Lisa mentioned, you could have a low profile port put in. That was one of my biggest concerns getting this band. My surgeon said that the newer low profile ports help minimize that. I've also heard of some getting it moved to be below the muscle. It makes it harder for fills, but if you're at your goal it shouldn't matter as much. Congrats on getting there!!

The lower profile port is an option, and I think i even once heard on here that you can even have it done under local anesthesia

Or just have sex in the dark ;)

Love running into my port in the shower. As far as sex! Don't want to bore you to death. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
