From what I understand gall bladder removal is more painful. Honestly sleeve surgery is not very painful at all. The hardest part is the lack of Water and food you can take in at the beginning. It will leave you weak and fatigued, but not really in much pain usually.

I honestly had no pain after surgery, after 1 night in hospital. I took nothing for pain once home, just took it easy. The unknown is what scares us. I had soreness in my navel. 1-2 days of rest and you will hardly know you had surgery. Serious!!! I am 67, surgery was 11/18, and I have walked more since surgery than I did the year before surgery. I am shopping and having so much fun! You will be back in the deer stand before you know it, and you won't have to come down to eat, LOL!!!!!

My surgery was January 20, 2014. I was 375 lbs. I was sore a little when I woke up, but nothing bad at all. I stayed overnight at the hospital.

I was given ice chips, broth, hot tea, and a popsicle. I didn't drink much of it at all, but that's ok since you are getting Fluid through IV as well. I went home late the next morning.

As of this morning, I'm already at 360lbs and no pain from normal tasks.

I had pain the day/ night of surgery. Morphine did a great job.

Tylenol next couple of days. Then no more pain meds.

Really not bad.

Worst thing. : a friend gave me a very funny book. Had to put it down for a flew days. It hurts when I laugh.

I have a friend getting a hernia op on Friday. I told her don't screw with me or I'll screw with you...... I'll make you laugh post - op

I had my surgery a couple of days ago. I am suffering from sleeve pain...only when I drink shakes/liquids. I can feel the liquid in my sleeve (weirdest feeling). It hurts when it first comes into contact with the bottom of my sleeve. Even drinking Water hurts! I hope this pain subsides when I drink anything. My hubby reminded me that I am just out of surgery, & that I'll need time to heal. Anybody else have this feeling after surgery?

Thin:

When I had my surgery I could hardly drink anything without pain.

I recall my pain was at the top.

I could only drink about 1/4 teaspoon at a time.

Dr said. " then just drink 1/4 teaspoon at a time"

It WILL GET BETTER.

Just do what you can.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
