Question for the ladies...TMI

Recommended Posts

HI Ladies,

Has anyone had issues with their period? I take birth control and had my period 4 weeks ago. I haven't stopped bleeding since then. No real heavy flow but spotting every day. My surgeon didn't have any suggestions. Anyone else having these issues or any suggestions?

Thanks!

I have an IUD and don't get a period with it. Well, I didn't, anyway! I have a light, regular period right now, and have for a couple days. I'm 2 weeks out from surgery! I figured the weight loss is messing with my hormones, too. Thank goodness for my IUD or else I'd probably be extra fertile right now.

I am almost 8 weeks out. My birth control pills allow 1 period every 3 months. I've already had 2 since surgery, so yeah, it definitely messes with your system.

I've had mine for 2 weeks already and I'm impatiently waiting for it to go away. Usually, mine last from 4-5 days but this is ridiculous. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I think it's my body going into shock but 2 weeks is a tad bit dramatic.

Hi, since surgery approximately 8 months ago, I've had a regular periods for 6 months, like clock work except it was 1 week late this month. It's quite strange actually as I was diagnosed with pcos and never really had a period. Now I'm dealing with all the "fun" bits that go hand in hand with regular periods.

Small price to pay for hoping on falling pregnant ????

The general rule is that your hormones do change after surgery and weight loss. They also give you blood thinners (usually) while undergoing the procedure and that takes time to work through your system too.

Hope you get sorted soon ????

Even though I was well into menopause, my Doc warned me to use double birth control, because your fat dumps lots of hormones while losing weight, and you can get pregnant!! I did not want to hear this at 57!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
