Recommended Posts

I'm still on full liquid but struggling to drink even that. Haven't found a good Protein I like yet. But I do get my fluids in. I go back to work tomorrow. Not sure I feel about that just yet.

Stats:

-5 pounds pre op

- 15 pounds week one

- 3 pounds week two (time of month)

23 pounds total

How are you guys doing?

I was sleeved 20th .. I have lost 35 total. Since dec 15. I had a 5 day liquid fast. This week has been a struggle for me when I got home from my 2 day hospital stay I am sure I over did it . My best friend and I had surgery on the same day / same doc she is up now running around feeling good .. I am not . I'm sure I tore something internal I hurt when sitting or standing I can't sit for long at all . I'm exhausted. And the last 4 days I have been 256 .. 255..266...255 .. . Idk why it just is . I do best with Protein Drinks in no tolerating food well it seems .. I'm assuming this is the "starter stall " I've been told of . I see my surgeon tomorrow .. Hope he doesn't team me to much . I am not anywhere near going back. Sad cause I thought I would be

I prefer my doctor's scale over mine so I'm going to wait to weigh myself until I go back there. I know I am losing because my clothes are getting very loose. My surgery was December 18th. I returned to work this past Monday. I feel pretty good but am getting tired of drinking Water. I'm adding lemon into it for now. I have started eating solids this past week, but am having a hard time with some foods. I do ok on fish and ground beef, like meatballs, it seems but not chicken or eggs. To get my Protein, I am relying on at least two shakes a day, I like EAS protein as well as OhYeah shakes and protein-enriched hot chocolate.< /p>

I took a leap of faith today. I purged my closet of the largest sized clothing (26). I decided to do it considering the weight I've lost already and that since returning to work I experimented with wearing some blouses that had gotten too tight. It was definitely my first NSV.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
