How long was your journey to goal?

Recommended Posts

Highest weight and starting weight: 206 lbs

Goal weight: 125 lbs

Current weight: 116 lbs

I'm 5'2". I consider 116 my new "goal" I guess. I'm happy here and don't want to gain even though it is 9 pounds under my original goal weight.

I had surgery January 9, 2013. It took me 10 months to reach original goal of 125. I'm not sure what else got me here besides the sleeve except major determination and willpower.

I hear ya Lumniouslife ;) yesterday was my first drop since week one :) and more today SD was 12/12/13 am down about 20 pounds pre op too :) considering I'm only 3 weeks out and gained 6 lbs and started to lose it again. I think I'll be the one that it won't work for :(

Nearly everyone has a post opgain from all the hospital fluids. It can take a week or more to lose that also.

Another thing is this...we all have many many stalls threwout the whole journey. Im 11 weeks and I've had 2 stalls. Just stay the course, get the mind reset to all positive thoughts and it will happen.

You're far too close to your surgery date to even consider the surgery not working for you.

Positive thoughts and mantras from here on out!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
