Does anyone else get really bad hiccups regularly? Mine are like really big hiccups that last for a while.

Does anyone else have this and do you know why it happens after surgery?

It is a cue I was told. Some ppl get them and others do not. I get them. It is letting you know that you are full.

I was told they occur more often in patients that are eating that 1/2 cup of food entirely too fast.... My surgical team wants us to take 30 minutes to eat! Makes for reheating a few times each meal????

I don't get them as much now that my band is gone but my banded hiccups were HORRIBLE. Loud, painful, miserable. Fairly certain it had something to do with an irritated vagal nerve from my band, also, they were almost always on an empty stomach so I guess that 1/2 cup thing doesn't always apply.

I get them too but there is no pattern. It sometimes happens after I eat but sometimes happen when I haven't eaten or drank anything. If it happens when I am eating, I do take it as a full signal.

I get them all the time, but I get them when I awake in the morning... No food yet. Can't be a signal. Surgeon was misjudged but said not to worry. I also has a hiatal hernia repair and always for hiccups so.... Don't know why, but yes....I do :D

I randomly hiccup throughout the day. Usually just a few times and then they're gone. I wonder why also!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
