Just read your blog Debbie. Firstly congrats on the engagement. Second, good for you regarding making it through the holidays. I can related...I did alot of eating out and other 'social' food events. I did the same as you....enjoyed what I ate but worked on making good choices and not overeating..and did just fine this first year of being banded. I hope to make this a truly permanent change so that next year, heck, ten years from now...I can say the same.

my first Holiday since being banded went okay.. other than evil Christmas Cookies finding their way into my mouth I ate fairly well. I had some days I was tired of all of the food. I gained 2 lbs then promptly lost them.. that in itself is a miracle for me.. I enjoyed this year so much more than previous years when I was miserable.. I even enjoyed shopping.. I also enjoyed being able to wear nice clothes to the different social events.. I always tried to hide my bigness with even bigger clothes and mostly black.. this year I wore skinny jeans with boots and red sweaters and dresses to church with high heels.. it was awesome... Hope everyone has a wonderful healthy and happy New Year...

besides being sick, i handled the holidays like i do everyday, i ate (made the best choices i could), indulged a bit and didnt fret over it and was mindful of my cal in/out ratio..esp since i wasnt able to exercise due to not being well...so i did the best i could and ended up losing 3 pounds

and if we do the best we can, then we all did GREAT

*i think people get all worked up as its a birthday/holiday etc...its a day like everyone else...we still have to be reponsible for what we eat and do..

I did pretty well! I'm not going to lie, I was nervous! I even told my husband my goal through the holidays was to just maintain my November 1st weight. I've lost 10lbs since then!

I just ate pretty much what I wanted, but unlike other years, I was actually mindful about what I was eating and how much. I didn't allow myself the 'oh well, it's the holidays' mentality that would typically have me gaining 10-15lbs. If I wanted a cookie, I had a cookie, but just like everyday, I tracked it in my food log and moved on!

i did great through the holidays and even lost 6 lbs. but not so much the last few days. do you all know what moose munch is? well i opened it and ate some one day. the next day i wanted more but instead threw it in the trash. a whole dang bucket of it. shoot. i have had to put christmas Cookies in the freezer out in the garage and had my hubby hide the candy in his man cave. i am not even a sweet eater. but i had a fill on the 26th and all the things i mentioned above are sliders to me. not one stuck issue on sweet stuff. man i had to clean house. because i am hungry and am trying hard to reel myself in.

I decided it was going to come if I screwed up or not. I opted to not screw up. I did enjoy a small amt sampling and I lost weight.

Hi Debbie. Your blog was great. Now that I'm three years post op it's relatively easy not to endulge and overeat. I ate a little of this and that. Had a drink or two at the parties I attended. Didn't exercise except one day I felt like walking on the treadmill and that was only ten minutes. Life below goal is great because you do find yourself enjoying life and not focused on food so much. Good luck with continued weight loss in this year.

Thank you! Today starts the beginning of MY new year! Back on track with exercise and eating the right things again. Purged the house of any "left over" holiday stuff! Let's see what this weekend's weigh in gives me!!

i know what you mean...Sometimes just knowing the stuff is in the house makes me want it. My boyfriend and my disabled father both have "man caves" and I make them keep all their junk food there so it's not in my kitchen. It seems as long as I don't know it's there then I'm fine but as soon as I do know it's there....oh no! lol

Yes, congratulations on your engagement!! Here's to a healthy happy future together.

We had so many get-togethers throughout the holidays and it's only just started to let up. One thing I found was that at every party there was something appropriate for me to eat. Usually this was something to do with Beans. I ignored the sweets and tried to stay away from cheese as much as possible (a real downfall in my pre-band life). Before I was banded I worried that I wouldn't be able to go out and have a "normal" life -- this proved to be a silly thing to worry about.

I did pretty well but I really only maintained my weight. It's hard to tell if this plateau was just going to occur anyway or if it had to do with caloric intake. Either way I'm happy not to have gained weight during the Merry season. I was banded in November and have lost almost 25 pounds.

I am happy overall but wishing for the next chunk to start disappearing. This afternoon I go for a fill and I know I really need this as I am quite hungry and able to eat more than the tennis ball sized portion my surgeon recommends -- plus I am hungry again soon after. Not sure why this has changed like this as I did have more satiety earlier on, but it is what it is.

Oh, and I exercised on Thanksgiving Day and New Year's Day and as many other days as I could swing it. That is a major milestone in my life. Next year I hope to be wearing sassy little pajamas on Christmas morning when I open my stocking, and I'd like to wear a great Christmas outfit somewhere, not my usual all-black ensemble. That made me laugh, Sharpie! It's so slimming, right? And Terry, the Moose Munch sounds like the crack cocaine of the snack world. Way to go removing that from the house.

Great blog, Debbie, you are doing beautifully. Speaking of beauty, are you the Debbie that took the photo at the top of that blog? What a garden!

This new life is amazing. This past holiday season was my second as a bandster and I can tell you it was probably the first time in my life that I did not gain weight during the holidays. In fact I lost about 10lbs. What is amazing is I did not deprive myself of anything and I had a taste of everthing I wanted. My band dictated the volume and frequency and quite honestly I didn't once feel deprived and expected to be up on the scale only to be surprised with a loss.

I simply love band life...I wouldn't change a thing.

The reason you are feeling hungrier now has to do with the weight you are losing on the inside...read my blog

Good luck with your fill today! You are doing great and will do even better starting tomorrow!!

And Yes, those are all my photos. That one was taken at the Venetian Casino in Las Vegas. Their Holiday decorations.

I am an amateur photographer as you can see if you click on the links on the blog site at the top for "MAIN PHOTO PAGE" and "FINE ART PHOTOS".

Thank you

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
