No not looking to cheat. I was just wondering.

Hey Coach,

I'm curious what prompted the question? I'm about sixteen or so days out and I haven't cheated. It's been difficult but I take it day by day and remember that I'm eating this way to allow my body to heal. After that, when solids do come in, I'll be eating to keep my body decreasing. So it won't stop being a process.

Were you curious because the cravings are intense or just wondering in general?

Even though I'm a bandster, I did. I felt fine but went back to the liquid diet because I didn't want to hurt my band.

Thanks Lady VS - I'm taking it easy and drinking a lot of my meals. I'm still trying to get in touch with my surgeon though, I keep having to leave a message (irritated).

Figure of speech people!! Sorry for tipping ur halos! I have cheated if that's what u call it and I have had no problem with it, a few things I wouldn't recommend, but if u chew anything well enough isn't it puréed???? Yes! But as I said in my first post chew chew chew

No, chewing doesn't really substitute for pureeing. The blender cuts the fibers in the food much better/more thoroughly than our teeth do.

Yes. You will find posts like that all the time. It never ends well. It's dangerous, stupid and just foolhardy to do. Is whatever the temptation is worth causing a possible leak? Your stomach is still healing and you can cause major damage to it upto and including death. Best case, most people reported it hurt like hell and they puked all over the place and generally felt like **** for the next few hours. If you haven't done it, don't. If you have, don't do it again. Don't mean to sound preachy but that would just be a dangerous thing to do!

I guess you call call me a liar as well, because I did not cheat during my pre or post-op diet. I did not consider and then undergo surgery to eat like I did previously.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
