a year out and at a stand still, still 30 pounds away from goal

Recommended Posts

HI all,

I am almost a year out and have been a slow looser since day 1. Unfortunately, due to personal trials and crisis, my weight is has not moved for 3 months, and I still have 30 pounds to loose. Has this ever happened to anyone? Is it possible fro me to re-start and loose the last 30 pounds , even if I am almost a year out ? I am terrified that I am stuck here at 175. All of this to stop midway. Please anyone who has experienced this an been able to reach goal after a huge set back please help me with some advise to start up again. I have stopped the fundamental rules post surgery and have not followed any plan. I have not gained weight, but I have not lost any either.

Any help or feed back would be appreciated. I would love to have some support as I try to finish what I started .... any helps or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Great job on your loss already! That is incredible. They say the last 30 pounds is the hardest to lose. Have you thought about taking up an intense workout to attack those remaining 30 pounds, you might consider running, body for life, strength for life, pdx 90, insanity, mma, boot camp style, cross fit, etc. there are so many different options to choose from. Speaking from personal experience, I lost my last 30 pounds in 2 months after putting in 15-18 miles a week of different styles of running (5k, 10 k, HIIT, race speed, etc). You certainly do not have to run, but should consider something that will kick up the metabolism into a higher mode of efficiency. Good luck.

I agree. Exercise and tracking were key to getting the weight off for me. I exercised 6 days per week ( 3 days of 30 minute strength trading and three days of brisk 45 minute walks) and kept calories lie by choosing low fat dense Protein, nonfat and fat free dairy, non starchy veggies, fruit, and whole grain in about that order. 64 oz of fluids per day, no calories in drinks other than milk.

So, even though my weight hasn't changed at all for 3 months ( my on fault) ... there's still hope at success ? What would you all think is a think is a good galorie goal at this point in my journey .... during my loss phase, I was at about 1100-1200 a day .... now, of course I eat more. What would you guys think is a good caloric intake goal to begin my weight loss again ?

Have you had your body fat measured?

Many people believe they need to lose a lot of weight when in fact they do not.

Bodyfat% is the best indicator for your progress not scale numbers.

No matter what I hope you find peace and happiness within you so you feel contentment.

I also had not lost any weight when I was about 7/8 months past surgery. I did 2 things that broke this stall.

  1. I downloaded the C25K app on my phone (it is a training program that gets couch potatoes to be able to jog a 5k after 8 weeks. I am currently in week 7 and can't believe my progress. There is a whole thread dedicated to this app under the Fitness Forum.
  2. I joined the Christmas/New Years Challenge under the General Forum. There is a new challenge that just started up called The Valentines Day Challenge. Which asks you to set a goal for yourself and weigh in each week and report your results. The person who started the challenge keeps everyones stats on a spreadsheet. It is very motivational.

The point is it is never too late.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
