Shirl the Pearl 0 Posted January 4, 2014 I'm cross posting this in pre-op and post-op How many of you think it would have been helpful to have a social worker (therapist) who has been through this procedure on staff and your surgeons office? You could talk to them about fears, concerns, etc. both pre-op and post-op. This would be short term therapy or just when the client needed it. Thanks for your response. SoccerMomma73 1,867 Posted January 4, 2014 Me me me!!!! Having a skinny damn surgeon and a skinny damn nurse and a freaking scrawny nutritionist.....yeah, I think it'd be great to have someone on staff that somehow relates to the mental aspects of what is going on. I even told my surgeon he needs to hire me for his seminars

Christi85 24 Posted January 4, 2014 My Doctor had bariatric surgery and so did his nurse. They also had a nurse who had bariatric surgery whose job was solely to visit us in the hospital and make sure our questions were answered before we went home. She gave me her email address if I have questions or need advice.
terry1118 1,274 Posted January 4, 2014 My psychologist is very slim. She used to be anorexic so she really understands eating disorders, which we all had to some extent or another. I felt like she genuinely understood what I was going through when I started my journey.
