I don't know what to say!

Recommended Posts

I just got a call from the surgeon's office, and they said that my insurance company called them and said that all I needed to get done before I was approved was an upper GI and a drug/alcohol screening test! From what they said, I will be getting a denial letter from them, but that they'll approve the surgery once they get proof that I passed these two tests! :welldoneclap::clap2:

To be honest, I'm kind of stunned at the moment. I was having so many delays that I thought I would never get approved.

It's still going to be a while until I can have surgery, but it's still just hitting me that this might actually be happening.

After planning and researching and talking about it for so long, it does seem surreal when you realize it really is going to happen.:dizzy:

No kidding. Yesterday I made a thread about how stressed out I was getting because of my thesis work and waiting on insurance. Now it's like "holy CRAP," my stress level has gone through the roof in the past half hour, since I got the call. You know how you can get kind of shaky (well, not physically shaking, but feeling like you are shaking on the inside) when you get really, really stressed? Well, I'm there.

I'm not sure you should Celebrate yet. From reading some of your posts, I'm not convinced you will pass the alcohol and drug screening test. Just Kidding!!

Congratulations!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
