So exciting! The 6 month honeymoon is definitely over and weight loss is slowing down, but still losing. It's been an incredible journey so far.

Wow! Congratulations! May I ask what your starting weight was at your surgery date? That is quite the accomplishment!

That is absolutely amazing!!! Congrats again!! I was just about 10 lbs heavier on surgery date and 5'7, so hearing your success is just even more of a motivation! Any particular work out schedule? I've been walking a lot and doing hands weights but haven't gotten back into running yet.

Thank you! When was your surgery? How have things been going for you so far?

My weight loss has been slower than some of my "sleeve sisters" because I don't really exercise. In the past (before surgery) I had lost and gained tons of weight through diet and exercise, but it was never sustainable because I would always quit the exercise and then give up on the diet. So this time I decided that I would not add exercise as a component and work only on the diet portion.

I feel embarrassed to say that I don't exercise because I know almost everyone else adds that component, but I know myself and I know that I would not stick with it.

For me, at first, I built up to walking my dog 30 minutes, but then I haven't done that for a while because it's so freezing here. I am trying to add things that are fun that might just happen to be exercise. So I tried belly dancing for a month, just for fun. I walk my dog when it's warm, just for fun. And I got a cruiser bike for Christmas so that when it's warmer I can ride around town, just for fun. Does that make sense?

As far as diet, which is my most important component, I log my food intake on My Fitness Pal. I feel like this is the most important thing I do. I try to keep my Protein at 60 grams or above, my carbs at 50 grams or less, and TRY to keep my Protein at 50% of my daily intake. I keep my calories at 700-900 calories, but I didn't get that high until my sixth month or so.

Hope this helps. I wish you the best in your journey. It's an amazing one !

Hello again! :) I was sleeved on December 17th so I'm almost at 3 weeks post op. I couldn't have asked for a better recovery. I'm down 26ish pounds so far, I get my liquids in and on MOST days I get in my protein of 65-80 grams. How you feel about exercise is how I'm currently feeling about the diet portion. I've used My Fitness Pal for years and have tracked every carb and calorie and I became a slave to constantly tracking every bite, so while you didn't want to add a strict exercise routine in just yet, I didn't want to become obsessed with tracking every bite quite yet. I haven't been doing anything crazy, but I try and walk/run at least a mile every day on the treadmill and doing hand weights. It's freezing here too so it's hard to get out to the gym right now. I think once I get to where I can eat some fish and veggies, I will start using MFP again, but as for now, I'm just focused on liquids, protein, Vitamins and medicine (carafate gross!). Did you start tracking food right from the beginning or did you wait a bit initially??

You're right! I didn't start tracking at first. Basically, that part was fluids and Protein and then mushies, purées and soft food. I know I didn't start tracking until after that.

I lost 28 my first month and then after that it's varied but usually about 2 pounds per week.

Your recovery sounds like mine. It was pretty easy. I agree with you - this is like a dream!

Try not to get frustrated with stalls. I have figured out that if you lose 2 pounds per week, then most of the days that week you wouldn't have lost anything. It all balances out in the end.

I weigh every day, but some people think it should only be once a week. I need that feedback every day, but I don't stress over slight changes each day. I only COUNT it once per week.

I have joined all the "challenges" since Labor Day because it helps keep me track and keeps me accountable on a weekly basis. Bea Amaya is always nice to keep the stats for all of us.

If you have any questions at all, please ask. I'm not an expert, but I've been where you are, so maybe I can help :-)

Thank you so much! I just added you as a friend on here… and for the record, I don't think anyone is an expert at this, but it sounds like we have a lot of similarities in our experiences and it's great to have someone to bounce questions off of! I joined the Valentine's Day challenge and this is my first one, but I LOVE competitions! My husband and I currently have a friendly competition going to see who can get more mileage in on our treadmill from Jan 1-Valentine's Day. :) That stuff keeps me motivated too, because I like to win. Haha! I weigh daily as well because I like the feedback (and I like to update my ticker, it's fun!) and I told myself before surgery (after I had read post after post about people freaking out because they hadn't lost a pound in 4 days) that I would not obsess if/when I hit a stall because it's better than gaining, which is what I am very good at typically! Just out of curiosity, when did you notice your first stall and how long would you say it lasted? The past few days, the scale has just been going down like .2 lbs, but I don't consider that a "stall". PS- I like your signature line where you documented your progress month by month… I think I'll do that too!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
