Well I just got back from the gym. I caught a cold before Christmas, so I'm just getting my "wind" back and feeling like I can breathe again. Let me tell you - missing a couple of weeks can REALLY make it hard to get back on track. Unfortunately I don't have a very good support group in my corner, so its all on me.

I don't own a scale at home, so I have to rely on weighing in at the doctor's office or at the gym. Anyway - I've made it a habit to weigh in after my work out before I leave the gym. I'm soooooo excited to say that as of today (1/4/14) I am officially under the 200lb mark weighing in at 197lbs! Can I say that again - 197 pounds! :D

I've been able to see the results in my upper body and my legs, but I still have that "spare tire" that I can't seem to loose. My sister in law (a bypass patient) promises that if I stick with the gym it will eventually melt away. I hope she's right! We're going on a cruise in May and while I know I won't be in a bikini or anything, I'd sure love to feel comfortable in a bathing suit by then.

I was sleeved on October 17, 2013. The day I went in for surgery I weighed 238 lbs. I wore a pair of size 22 jeans to the hospital and came home in a pair of XXL sweat pants. I'm happy to say that I'm comfortably in a size 16 right now. My leggings were beginning to sag in the butt, so I got new ones in a size Large! I bought a pair of 14 jeans yesterday to hang on the back of my bathroom door. Right now I can't even get them zipped, but gimme another month and I'll be there...

I just wanted to share cause I know y'all "get it". Like I said, I don't have a really good support group to encourage me when I miss a couple of days at the gym, and I work out alone. My husband praises me and loves my new look, but I can't get him to walk or work out with me

We are sleeve sisters! I, too, had surgery on 10/17.

Congrats on your weight loss! I am looking forward to being back in the 1's.....someday.

I've been stuck at the same weight for almost 3 weeks. Though I know it will pass, it's so frustrating when you're in the middle of it.

Congratulations on your success and determination. Don't let yourself feel like you are alone at the gym. Instead with our busy lives of taking care of others, our jobs, our homes etc.... I like to think of exercise time as my time where I can clear my mind of problems and just think of me. I actually look forward to this quiet introspection time. My kids know not to bother me at that time unless the house is on fire. keep up the good work and you will really enjoy that cruise.

Sorry you don't have anyone other than your hubby to cheer you on, but congratulations on being a "looser". Doesn't it feel great? Keep up the great work and welcome to onderland.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
